My Contribution to the Zurich Beach Cleanup Event at Pantai Cunang on September 26, 2024.
Thanam Industry Sdn Bhd collaborated with Zurich Shared Services Malaysia for the event Beach Cleanup at Pantai Cunang on September 26, 2024, in conjunction with Climate Month. The partnership has been ongoing for three years. Having 25 years of expertise in recycling, waste management, and environmental services, I used this opportunity to share my experience gained throughout these years in the environment management . Thanam Industry Sdn Bhd , together with volunteers from Zurich Shared Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd, arrived at Pantai Cunang at 8.30 a.m. The event gathered about 50 people. I began the event by delivering an awareness speech about recycling, waste management, and environmental services for protecting ecosystem, reflecting on my knowledge and experience in the industry of recycling. I was describing how organic and inorganic wastes form the basis for the recycling process. During my presentation, I interacted with the audience and addressed many of their concerns about beach debris. One of the topics they posed was interesting: how the tide transports plastic waste into the sea, where it settles, and how to retrieve it. Following that, Kalaiarasu, Athavan, and I , divided our squad into three sections to help volunteers immediately start cleaning up the beach. Throughout the event, I directed the team's volunteers in identifying trash, collecting, sorting, and delivering debris to the scrap yard. During the event, almost 500 kg of debris were collected. Glass bottles, nylons, nets, and plastics make up the majority of the rubbish that is collected. We took a group shot at the conclusion of the event, which inspired us to host additional occasions like this. I am quite happy with our small contribution to a clean environment. We are giving more initiatives on plastic recycling to provide the environment with zero littering of plastic waste. At the conclusion of the event, Thanam Industry Sdn Bhd received a certificate of appreciation for their collaboration with Zurich Malaysia. My contribution to regional engagement at Malaysia serves as an accomplishment that Thanam Industry Sdn Bhd...
Read moreTHE BEACH IS ABANDONED!! (April 2025)
It looks completely abandoned, not just poorly maintained. As of April 2025, it’s clear that no one is taking care of the place anymore.
There are a lot of wild monkeys (kera) in group roaming freely, and they can get aggressive. It’s totally unsafe.
At the entrance, stray dogs barked at us — and today, they charged at us. I had kids with me, and it was genuinely scary.
The parking area? Quiet, isolated, and honestly creepy — it doesn’t feel safe at any time of day. We arrived at 3pm and there was no one around.
Overall, the place feels completely abandoned and dangerous. Please, if you’re looking for peace or safety, do not come here.
To whoever is in charge — if you’re reading this, please take action about the wild animals. It’s such a shame to waste a beautiful spot like this.

Read morerecently visited this beach area and was extremely disappointed with what I found. The beach was not well maintained, not like the last time I went there a few years ago. with litter and debris scattered all over the sand. The beach area also appeared to be dirty and not taken care of. The lack of proper maintenance and safety measures made me feel very uncomfortable and anxious during my visit. It's a shame because the beach has the potential to be a beautiful spot for relaxation and fun, but the neglect of its upkeep and safety measures has rendered it almost unusable. I would not recommend this beach area to anyone looking for a safe and enjoyable...
