Pantai Air Tawar — Attraction in Terengganu

It can generally be said that Pantai Air Tawar is the top Holiday Destination in the District of Besut. It has its own unique attraction with its scenic view and golden beaches and is most popular with both the local and international tourist.

Amongst the most popular activities at Pantai Air Tawar are picnicking, swimming or just strolling along the shoreline. It has always been a popular spot with the locals since long ago and is especially so during the weekends, public holiday and the school holiday.

Pantai Air Tawar has adequate public facilities to cater for the visitors. You can find hotels, chalets, food stalls, children's playgrounds and others here. Every year end a Cultural and Arts Festival is held to welcome the tourist. A pavilion was also built here to stage the many cultural shows.

With its breathtaking beauty, the cultural activities held and with the facilities provided, Pulau Air Tawar has become one of the main destination for a family vacation.

Pantai Air Tawar, which is northernmost among the Air Tawar - Demong - Bukit Keluang chain of beaches, is home to Besut's finest hotel and the official residences of its top government officials. Therefore it is most developed compared to other beaches in terms of facilities and amenities such as children's playground, R&R, and paved parking area.

Shaded by matured cone pine (rhu) trees, Air Tawar is a popular recreational for locals and casual tourists. Its long sandy and windy beach is suitable for picnic, kite flying and beach combing. If you have time, is nice place to drop by and enjoy the evening breeze. Otherwise a drive through its residential area and rhu forest, or a tea or lunch break at a nearby restaurant will be refreshing before continuing...

The area was nice but the the town council has failed to upkeep the place as a tourist attraction. The rubbish were scattered all over the area esp in areas where there were walkways. Felled trees were not cleared and were left to rot in place. The grass were not cut and were terribly unkempt. The attractions were poorly maintained with one bridge having a major crack all along it. There were 5 restaurants serving local food available but suprisingly there were no sundry shops to buy goods anywhere within a 2 kilometer radius of the beach. Parking was...
