Interesting that there are so many reviews for this course but no comments. Here is my take on Royal Malta. When we booked we received an email asking us to please read the dress code so that we could enjoy the facilities after the round. This really got our hopes up, as it sounded like we were in for treat. So you can imagine our disappointment to find out Royal Malta is a goat track. The course is badly maintained, awful greens (some were unplayable), and the club house was equivalent of municipal course. We rented clubs for 35 euros which were poor quality, and paid 65 euros for the round. There are no towels provided in the changing rooms, they rushed us 8 euros to park there. And I can tell you can ignore the dress code and wear slip slops if you want a beer afterwards. If you are a serious golfer, you will be massively disappointed wasting half a day of your holiday playing Royal Malta...rather got...
Read moreFirst time back to Malta after the pandemic for Jen and I and wow what a change. The course is presented very well and is now a green oasis in an otherwise dry country. Really liked the subtle improvements to the course since we last played in early 2019 and the upgrades to the driving range make it an excellent facility today. Lunch was up to its usual standard and the only downside to the day was that due to local '19 health rules the restaurant has to close at 5 pm denying us a second bottle of wine in this unique restaurant setting (the terrace is actually situated between the 1st and 2nd holes). Plan to play twice more while we are in Malta and really looking forward...
Read moreWorst experience. If you want to play during your vacation, don 't do it. Never again. Really the worst experience. Not because the quality of the course is terrible, because the price of the fee does not match the quality. I like to support golf. Don't play because no one there knows the rules of golf. Marshal? There isn't. During the tournament? Golf rules? There aren't. Unfortunately, this course benefits from being the only one. The absurd thing is, they have Royal in the name. But Royal = etiquette. The local members lack that. And beware, the scorecard has the wrong meters. Members of this course, please try to educate yourself. A very...
