The water is very nice - calm, clear and nice colors all over the bay. Plenty of little aquatic creatures swimming around to see.. About the Jellyfish - saw the small purple ones. There weren't many at all but after a night with lots of incoming waves there were a few. Pretty to look at, got stung by one while swimming - not very painful. Life guards on the beach help with vinegar. Overall - really fantastic beach! Fun to have some sand as most of beaches around are rocky...
St George's Bay used to wonderful but in recent years it has become the entertainment capital of Malta (in every sense of the term) and is exceedingly busy, noisy and run down in places. It is fine if you are looking for busy streets packed with tourists, bars and cafes, and nightlife. It has a sandy beach but that too gets packed with people in the summer season. The area does have some of the best hotels in Malta within it and nearby, and some very good restaurants and shopping areas but in our opinion these are regrettably too close to grid-locked traffic and noisy streets. The area is fie if you are looking for bars, bustle and entertainment but if you want peace and quiet there are many better places to stay on the...
Read moreIt could be the best sand beach near Valletta but it's so dirty...full of cigarette buts, garbage and people party here all night long. The water is crystal clear, but I'm not sure about water quality. We ended our vacation with stomach flu!
Paceville/St. Julian's is the worst place to stay if you want to sleep at all. Mass, cheap, and sex tourism in this area. Construction rules are savage and ruining a beautiful place, and Malta has a lot of history and historical buildings, especially Valletta and Mdina.
Construction noise during all day and loud discos/bar noise during the night. I saw some fights with drunken people. It is impossible to rest even in the 5* hotels located in the St. George Bay area. It ruined our experience in Malta, and I was expecting more control from local authorities.
I would advise staying in other areas like Golden Sands, Valletta, or Sliema and only going there for the great...
Read moreSt George’s Bay is a relatively small beach. While it does offer access to sand and sea, the area felt a bit lacking in cleanliness. It’s surrounded by numerous nightclubs and ongoing construction, with cranes dominating the skyline, which does take away from any sense of relaxation or natural beauty.
I didn’t swim but took a brief look around and sat near the nearby beach club. It might serve a purpose if you’re looking for a quick sun-and-sea fix and can manage to tune out the distractions. That said, it’s probably not the beach experience many would hope for, especially if you’re used to more scenic or tranquil coastal spots.
Malta, while stunning in many other ways, may not be best known for its beaches. The atmosphere felt geared towards a younger,...
