Excellent hotel with only some minor snags that could be resolved, though some are personal choices such as adults only Spa. I stayed here with my friend for a mix of photography, sightseeing and a small amount of partying holiday.
The breakfast and quality of this hotel is really great, it's a very central hotel but far enough from the noise of the party area that you won't hear it while in your room. The staff are all very nice, especially the receptionist are all super helpful.
Some positives: The room is well sound insulated, you can't hear the traffic from the road which is amazing. Staff are all really nice, thank you for making our stay pleasant and enjoyable :-) Breakfast has a really good selection, including fresh orange juice. Gym is small but well equipped and is enough for beginner to intermediate people. It doesn't have a squat wrack, but I prefer this so it is a more peaceful environment on holiday. Water machines around the spa area is nice. The Sauna gets nice and hot.
The roof top pool is really great, though often there is no one coming round to ask about drinks after certain periods, maybe this service is only at peak times.
A few of small issues: The swimming pool in the Spa area is often overran with noisy kids, I would suggest making the Spa area adults only. It isn't a relaxing area most of the time. The aircon doesn't seem to stay on in the room when you leave, so after a long day out it can be quite hot to come home to a warm room. There is a bright green aircon light directly facing the bed at pillow level - I would suggest moving the panel or changing controller to one without a bright light. Light is a known disruptor of sleep so this seems like the only major design flaw in the room. I had to try and cover it up as it was so bright at night. I think the hot tub area should be redesigned with a custom hot tub that is much longer and tiled like a pool (or a long metal container), with various water features.
Area: The area is near the party district, but far enough away you don't get the noise. There is a bowling / gaming center nearby that is fun for an evening out or before / after dinner. In general it seems safer than London, UK. I would avoid walking through the party district at night, as you will get girls try and grab you. You should use Bolt taxis to places, as the value is decent. It is possible to walk to Sliema. Malta clearly has a problem with cars and traffic.
Overall I would recommend the hotel and...
Read moreVery nice hotel, clean and well maintained, with nice modern decor. Staff polite , friendly and helpful. I would however say it was best for a “City Break” and not for an extended stay. We stayed for 11 nights and as there is only one restaurant and one bar in the evening, we were forced to eat out as whilst the food in the restaurant was indeed excellent, the menu is very limited and did not change in the time we were there. Also again, the hotel unfortunately, is indeed in the “middle of a built up area “ with views of either other hotels or roads/traffic. We had a suite, which was very nice, on level 6 , but which overlooked a building site and a very, very busy noisy road (as does the rooftop pool). The rooms are not soundproofed sufficiently and we were awoken at all hours with the noise of motorbikes at full throttle, police sirens (constantly!) and late night revellers . Sitting on the balcony was not an option because of the noise factor and also it was extremely small - literally the width of a chair!! The pool area is very nicely set out with extremely comfortable chairs/loungers but again is very noisy from the road traffic. Also had problems placing orders for drinks/food at the pool as the QR code wouldn’t work and we therefore had to either go down to the bar to order or try and attract the attention of a waiter/waitress who was delivering an order to other guests. The bar at the Pool was closed and there was therefore no walk around waiter service . We understood that the bar at the pool would be open until the end of October but that was not the case. The food/choice at Breakfast was superb, although the lack of crockery/cutlery let it down, as everyone was always having to ask for these to be replaced. Overall this Hotel is very nice and worthy of the Hyatt name, but as said previously it is more suited for short stays . We personally would not return as we thoroughly disliked the area where it is situated, Far too noisy and built up for us . That is of course not the Hotels fault as we chose the area - which unfortunately is depicted in the holiday brochures etc as being much more upmarket than it is! We are in our late 60’s and are still very young at heart but after 11 nights of “bedlam” we were actually glad to be going home!!!!! Never been to “Benidorm “ but where this hotel is situated, I would imagine it’s on a par!!! If you are in your twenties however, I think you will love...
Read moreWe have loved our stay in this hotel very much and would love to come back here for our next trip to Malta (we are not difficult guests haha) but as an employee of a 5 star hotel myself I can tell there is a lot to improve in terms of the service. Hopefully my review will be useful for them to become even better in the future as it is a very recent opening. The hotel itself is super new, we loved the design and the facilities, and we were even upgraded to a room with two double beds instead of one King, much appreciated! Our room did not have any view at all, but it was nice looking (however I didn’t realize that the bathroom is literally located in the bedroom: the wc is in a small space with a door but the sink and the shower are almost not separated (no door if you want privacy while taking the shower). For us that was ok but keep that in mind. The phone in our room didn’t work, we could hear the staff but they couldn’t hear us - we asked that to be fixed but tbh never tried to use it afterwards. The breakfast is excellent, great hours and beautiful terrace, amazing choice - I wish we could stay longer to try everything. They were a bit to take away the dishes and didn’t change the utensils if we didn’t ask them to. The outdoor pool looks pretty but it was too cold for us to use it, however we loved the indoor pool, it was very relaxing. The jacuzzi was dirty in the evening and the water hasn’t been changed, and it wasn’t clear how to do it by ourselves. The people was entering in the same dirty water one after each other. I am not a pro in jacuzzis but for me it didn’t seem very hygienic. We have used the indoor pool 2 evenings and the wine glasses/ other finished drinks that we saw on the 1st evening were still there on the 2nd evening, they never took them away. Same for the room service dishes; we saw some on the floor outside of one of the rooms in the evening and they were still there the next morning. In the beverage menu available by scanning their QR code on the keyholder there was no wines at all, in the Reception they didn’t know anything about it and I had to go to the restaurant to see the wine list (as we wanted to see and choose, not just calling them and asking for all the options and prices). The prices for food and drinks are reasonable for a 5 star.
Thank you for welcoming us and the small details didn’t bother us at all; we had a...
