Two friends and I visited Cafe Del Mar during our trip to Malta this week and it did not disappoint. We booked a week in advance and paid for the comfort sunbed option. When we arrived we were greeted and taken to our beds which were comfortable and shaded by an umbrella which the pool attendants would open or close depending on our preference. We loved being waited on at the poolside using the call button and our servers made us a tab to pay at the end of our stay. We got there for 10:30 as requested on our booking and it was a little quiet but got busier during the day. Even at the most busy point it was still relaxing and fun. There were lots of great cocktails and drink options (three menus of drinks so plenty to choose from!) plus lots of great food options in the restaurant and sushi bar. Our coeliac/gluten free friend was happy with the choices at lunch too. We really enjoyed the service we received in person, the setting and atmosphere were great and we spent the full day here (10:30-5:30) reading, relaxing, drinking and taking a dip in the pool. There was a great mix of people there for all ages and nationalities, the music was nice, the place was very clean and well looked after including the loos. There were unfortunately some minor points which weren’t great (but certainly not enough to make it less than four stars!) - our email to book a table in the restaurant for lunch went unanswered, but the colleagues there on the day made sure we got booked in and adjusted our booking during the day at our request. The service call button went unanswered in the later afternoon when it felt like there was a shift swap/reduction in staff around 4:30/5pm, but a colleague passing by was really happy to take our drink order and bring it out to us. There was also unfortunately a mix-up with our tab which meant another party’s drink was added to our bill by accident, but the colleague quickly had this removed for us. All in all I would recommend a visit here for a relaxing day in the sun.

It is a super nice place to come to see the sunset, but we aware when you book a table ask for a table close to the pool for have a nice view of the sunset. I booked a table and I said with a nice view but they gave me a poor table, so I complained and the host said I should ask for a table close to the pool, so after I complained again to the waiter, he went to ask to the host and after a few minutes he came back and gave us a better table, but no one talk to us about. The service seems a bit tense, we got a waiter very quite, I think he was new, first we ordered two Whiskey sour, they were good but a bit sweet, then we were kind of forgotten because we finished the started and it took him long time to removed the empty plates, then we got our second plate and my husband didn't have anything to drink so we tried to call the waiter but no ones was around. Then we asked for dessert and the waiter just bring a plate with all the dessert they have, but I have to ask him what was each dessert because he was just waiting for me decide without any clue, he could explain what kind of dessert they were. Over all for the place is nice but the service needs to be more take care very slow and long times waiting. First photo is the table we got the first time and the second it is the second table.

What an amazing place .Let's be honest this is a proudness of Maltese hospitality . Unfortunately something made me feel unhappy yesterday evening (Friday 11.06.2021) I called to book for SOFA with my girlfriend and one big liar (sorry to say but he is) Mr. Mark Pace (director of selling -what a shame) When I called first he told me we can not book as we are two (although that night I saw people on sofa 2-3-4 and he said must be six) ,after that be said we need to order food (Although there is no more this kind of restrictions in Malta ) finally I asked him can u book for us SOFA and he confirmed TWICE FOR ME .On Friday I came to find that our table is 32 which is restaurant soon Mr Mark shame on you for not treating your customers equally . Finally well done to servers BAJA AND NIKOLA , which found space for us and gave us sofa ... Me and my girlfriend enjoyed in drinks and cocktails ....Service was amazing !!!❣️🏝️Love Cafe del Mar and those people ,next time I will try to avoid and book on different way ..so that Mr Pace will not lie to me anymore as he obviously did it ...See you again!!!!

The location and pool is amazing and we had a lovely day....Food was delivered quickly and was yummy! BUT sadly the only downside is that the service for pool drinks is less than ok - they use a call button system and yet we (as well as the people around us who were getting annoyed with not being served) seemed to be ignored when calling and eventually had to go order ourselves at the bar. this would have been fine too but I had to stop someone to eventually help me! if you're paying €40+ for a gazebo/lounger/bed , you'd expect better service! Having spoken to the manager, he stated that they were understaffed and yet there were 10+ waiters standing around. the manager got defensive and said he could go into it with the cleaning/serving/running but wouldn't. We were just trying to be helpful by letting him know that it could be a 5* establishment if there were just a couple more runners running drinks as people would spend a lot more if drinks were flowing.... all in all a good way to spend a Sunday in the sunshine!
