Not a sandy beach by any means, but there are areas where one can sunbath and there's a ladder you can use to enter the water and swim, snorkel, and even dive. The local Dive On Malta shop uses this as their go-to for basic skills practice and some Discover Scuba lessons (which I can recommend). The waterfront has small sandy beaches but mostly rocky areas to sit or lay out and enjoy the sun and water.
I visited during mid May of 2024 and some construction going on along the Promenade but nothing to stop you from walking the coastline.

Read moreNot a bad place at all, just very busy and touristy. If this is what you're after then fully recommend however it felt a little Costa del Sol like for us. We still very much enjoyed jumping in and out of the water at different points and stopped in a lovely, quiet bar called Sea Cloud - just down the way.
