The absolute best beaches in Mauritius. This is definitely worth a visit (or two like us).
We were staying in Flic en Flac and so the drive across was 1hr 20mins and worth every minute. So much so that we went back again the following day.
We took the ferry boat across from Pointe Maurice (see my review on this for details). It cost 450 mur per person return trip. This includes a sunbed for the day and a welcome drink.
You will get a quick intro once on the island about all the activities you can do while there. Not cheap but worth it for the thrills.
You are then free to roam all the beaches on the east side (the best parts). If you venture as far as you can (takes approx 30 minutes along the beach or 15 minutes through the footpaths set back away from the beach) then you’ll end up at a small bay with beautiful Maldivian-esque islands. The water lapping up on the beach here is seaweed free for the most part and you can easily wade through the waters to the rocky ‘islands’. The water is calm and crystal clear and perfect for little ones when the tide is out.
Stay at the near end of the beach as the sun beds here are what you have already paid for. We ventured further on and were told by the waiter for the bar/cafe that this whole area is a private beach but he would let us stay and use the sun beds as long as we bought drinks and food from the bar (it’s crazy expensive!). I ended up walking back to the beginning part of this bay and asked the security guys if what the waiter said was true. He said the beach was indeed private but we could use the beds etc nearby for free. The ones further along the beach are specifically for users of the cafe.
We promptly moved all our things and saved ourselves about £200. I suggest you do the same.
Pack yourselves a picnic and save yourselves the extortionate food and drink prices here. Use the money you save to do the activities instead.
If you plan ahead you can also book the glass pods on the island to sleep in overnight. They cost around €600 per pod per night. Not sure how many people they sleep but they look fab. Enquire at Pointe Maurice for more...

The tour started with a visit to hidden waterfalls, which felt like a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. From there, we sailed through a beautiful lagoon with calm, crystal-clear waters that were perfect for just soaking in the scenery.
For lunch, we had piranha fish, and it was surprisingly delicious—so fresh and flavorful. Everything about the day felt easygoing and well-organized, with just the right balance of adventure and relaxation.
Île aux Cerfs was stunning, with its soft beaches and vibrant waters, making it an unforgettable stop on our honeymoon. It was one of those days that felt effortless and special all at once. If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend...
