It is not a dangerous trek, but it requires a lot of arm work to hold on to the trees on the descents. In general the circuit is slippery, with a lot of mud, roots and stones. I recommend going with trekking shoes. It was our turn after a whole night of rain, so the path to the first waterfall was closed (closed by the guides).

The trekking was totally worth it. There are 2 circuits, the short one, which is approximately 2-3 km and you can see 4 waterfalls, or the long one, which is the one we did (without a guide). where you can see them all. We follow the trails that appear in the Maps.me app. In general, the first half of the path is well marked with marks on the trees and rocks, the second part and after the last waterfall is more diffuse. In one part you have to go along the river, until you reach a kind of water plant. Just before the central station you have to turn right and start going up. From there, take the path made by the backhoe for a few meters and just when it turns sharply to the right, you have to continue straight along a small stone path. The ascent is easy, but we encountered several fallen trees that blocked the path. When you reach almost the top, the path gets lost a little among the plantations, after about 20 -30 meters you reach the street and from there you can continue along the street or through the plantations.

It is not necessary to go with a guide and be careful that they try to stop you before the start of the trail to charge you for parking. Parking is free, as a reference you can look for the cemetery or tamarin...

Loved the hike. Amazing views, great swimming in super cold water :)) Nice for selfies too lol. It was a quite stressful at the beginning because here and also on other websites you read how you need a guide and without him you'll get lost blabla, my girlfriend got insecure about everything and on top of that when you arrive, these guides just rush at you and telling you you need them and without them you get lost and injured etc.. But seriously, anyone with basic orientation sense and average IQ can enjoy this place on his/her own. You park near the bridge where little temple is and continue your walk along the cane field. After 50 meters you have first chance to turn left into the woods and shortly you see first waterfall, that is kinda hidden in the bushes. You turn around, get back to the cane field and continue another 100 meters till you find another route the goes left and that's where your true trail starts. You go down to second waterfall (first that is kinda exposed), you cross it and go around and under it actually and just continue to others. Basically when you're walking in bush, just keep in mind the river and try to stay next to it. You can't get lost. One tip though - when you're done hiking and want to go back, there are several routes on the right side of the river that goes all the way up - up up and up. You end up again in sugar cane field and can walk nicely to the car, no need to go around all waterfalls and hike in...

We had a lovely adventure hiking this with a guide Sanjeev. We went in October. We read that it's possible to do without a guide but we're glad we went with one because the trail isn't marked and it's bit immediately clear where to go. He also took great pictures and videos for us and brought snacks. The hike itself is moderately challenging and I wouldnt recommend it if the weather is crummy or if it's been raining because some parts of the hike could become quite muddy/slippery. It was about 3 hours to do the first 5 waterfalls. We considered doing #6 and #7 as well but decided it wasn't worth it. There are different places people can cliff jump and swim. There was a group that was canyoning and that looked fun. At the end of the tour, our guide showed us the view from far seeing all 5 of the waterfalls. Contact me @makeuwannadance on IG for info on the guide! Highly recommended!
