Tamarind Falls Viewpoint — Attraction in Vacoas-Phoenix

The Tamarind Falls “also known as Tamarin Falls or 7 cascades” are a beautiful attraction of the southwest of Mauritius. Popular for its beautiful surroundings and unspoilt nature.

Situated on the central plateau, near the small village of Henrietta, the Tamarind Falls contains 11 waterfalls, multiple jumps, deep ponds and lush green vegetation; Tamarind falls considered as one of the most beautiful canyons of the Island.

A good few hours trekking with a guide (which you will need to find your way). Steep desent to each waterfall. Had been raining last few days so tail was muddy and slippery but with plenty of trees and shrubs to hang onto. A fun experience but expect to get a bit muddy. Schöne Aussicht auf die Tamarind Falls, aber Vorsicht: Direkt am Straßenrand tauchen inoffizielle ‚Guides‘ auf, die Touristen abfangen wollen. Sie bieten an, das Auto zu parken oder sich als Tourbegleiter aufzudrängen, obwohl man nichts gebucht hat. Einer wollte sogar nachdem er mich zum Aussichtspunkt geführt hat, mit ins Auto einsteigen. Er drängte ständig darauf die Wasserfälle doch direkt zu besuchen. Tipp: Am besten nur über bekannte Tourveranstalter buchen und niemandem den Autoschlüssel überlassen.

Beautiful viewpoint of the Tamarind Falls, but be careful: Unofficial ‘guides’ appear right by the roadside and try to approach tourists. They offer to park your car or act as a tour guide even though you haven’t booked anything. One of them insisted that I must visit the waterfalls after the viewpoint and tried to get into my car to come along. Tip: Only book through trusted tour operators and never hand over your car keys...
