Wonderful place, quite a way away from the historical park but we'll worth the effort to get there. A most impressive historical monument that is integrated into a functioning temple. It was quiet when I visited on a Friday morning, but judging by the number of stall lining the road and bring prepared for business when I left, I guess it gets pretty full in the afternoon and at weekends. No entrance fee as it is a functioning temple, but obviously any donations will bring you merit.

The Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat predates the Sukhothai era. It was founded in 1237, when the area was under control of the Khmer empire from Angkor. It was restored and expanded during the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya eras.
