We took a boat ride on La Cariñosa 💕 from Boca Tiomatlan to Yelapa where we met Hector (Hectorino) and his staff on arrival. Hector and his staff took great care of us. We were offered our own chairs and umbrella, a delicious michelada (full bar and food menu) and excursions. We rode horses thru the river back to the waterfall and enjoyed wading in the water with a bar located at the waterfall site also. Upon returning from our horse ride back to our chairs for relaxing I was reminded I had left my drink....they were kind enough to store it in the freezer and brought it back to me. Our trip was paradise for us and while on our vacation we did like most vacationers do.....we experienced the best adventures. Hector met all of our needs and had recommendations...

Came to Yelapa Waterfall during a day trip from Puerto Vallarta. Had high hopes for the beach when I arrived in Yelapa but the sand was too rough and waves were really strong, so I decided to walk through the town to get to the waterfalls.

The waterfalls is definitely worth the 30 minute hike, it was nice and shady because of all the trees, and the water was cool and refreshing. I ended up staying at the falls for over an hour. The water at the falls goes from shallow to deep, so you can kind of gauge where to stand if you can’t swim.

They sell alcohol by the falls and there's a washroom as well, I think it's like 10 pesos or something to use the restroom.

This place is definitely a hidden gem in the town. There were a good mix of both tourists and...

My group hated the trip up to the fall and not much is going on during the dry season, just a trickle. The biggest complaint was walking through hot poop for quite a long time. It was difficult for my 78 year-old MIL to make the trip.

I on the other hand took a horse and really enjoyed myself. I loved checking everything out, being up high, seeing all the vendors, plants, homes, children, and everything else along the way. The horses/mules are tame, but definitely don't like listening and don't enjoy the trip up. They can be difficult to control. My horse was pretty nice, but he sometimes didn't want to stop or make the correct turns. They definitely prefer to be home and will drag their feet going up and then try to get back as quickly...

Took a round trip water taxi from Boca de Tomatlan for $6. (We used Uber to get there and purchased round trip, Brenda, our driver was waiting for us when we got back) There are only 4 water taxis back to Boca. 3:30 and then hourly until 6:30) There are vendors all the way to the waterfall (a short walk). Great prices and unique items. Took the advice from my Botanical Garden guide to experience this adventure. Smart move. Take the water taxi to the second Yelapa dock. Then get the ATV back to the beach and restaurants to get a good spot. That’s a review in itself. This is a must go when in puerto Vallarta.
