Coming here to see the Salamanders was a fantastic end to a wonderful day of kayaking on the river. It is located on the river with a dock for the kayaks, in the family's private home that has had the upper section converted for conservation. Jose was very friendly and knowledgeable! The Ajolotes (or axolotls) are indigenous to Mexico and they really do look like Toothless from How to Train your Dragon! 😄 They look to always be smiling too. They also have several tarantulas and a pair of pythons that I was allowed to hold. I decided I wasn't ready to hold the tarantula though lol.

I was also offered snacks and drinks to rest from kayaking. Whether you come here alone or as part of the Kayaking tours, you will find a warm and welcoming family and all the salamanders you could hope for.

Please pay this place a visit! It's a great experience and donations help care for the salamanders who face growing pollution of their waters. You...
