Good sight if you got some spare time. I went there by Uber starting from La Reforma Ave. The Uber cost about 160 Mex Pesos (15 Mex Pesos = 1.00 Us$) and took 35mins to get to the embarcadero Cuemanco where you arrange a Trajinera (boat) to take you to your trip. The "Trajinera owner" charged us 1400 Mex pesos for 3 people as we wanted a short private 2 hour trip with 2 trajinera's men to row us faster. The regular trip would last 4 hs long with only one rower. You have the option to arrange a large group or to join on a forming group once you are there to make it cheaper.
The canal is quite peaceful on the weekdays, a bit filthy with not much to see. Bring your own drinks and snacks as you might be bored within your 50mins drive up to the island. You have the chance to take some pics rowing the boat with this long wooden stick which was quite fun.
Once you get off the boat they charge you 5 mex pesos per person to land in the island. I gave them 5.00 Us$ for the 3 of us and off course no change back. Bring change. The island of the dead dolls was interesting in a way but very small, dirty and the story teller man who identified himself as being the nephew of the owner who started the legends, told us a brief 5 mins story about his uncle. After hearing the story you're free to take pics around. The place is very informal with no infrastructure at all, it definitely needs some cleaning and...
Read moreThe $100 USD “ticket price” you see posted on the signs at the doc is NOT the price for one person to go to the island. It is the price to rent a whole boat that will take you, and whoever else can fit on the 20-some-odd person boat. I went with a friend and we balked at the cost, but then found another group of tourists contemplating the prices. We asked them if they wanted to rent a boat together and split the price, and they agred, so each of the five of us paid about 500 pesos (20 USD) for the ride. It should be noted that early on in the ride you eill come across a “replica” doll island. It is surrounded by black fencing and dolls are visible behind it on tall trees. The real, original doll island is a bit further out, and a little more secluded. You won’t really see the dolls until you’re close to or on shore, as they’re also hidden by trees and a wooden fence. The island is astounding. Not a bad photo to be taken. If you can get there without trouble it’s highly worth it, especially if you’re a...
