My partner and I booked the Teotihuacan tour with this company. We were told a bus would pick us up at 7:30am from our hotel. At 7am we were told that the bus had arrived and we had 10 minutes to get ready.
We then spent the next 1.5hrs picking up other customers. We then continued to drive around the city to a meeting point where we were instructed to swap cars. There seemed like there was no organisation with who was allocated to which car/tour guide. The website advertised the tour was for 12 people however we had to always wait for the other 3 vans at each stop.
We then went to two stops, one being a souvenirs shop where we waited for over an hour at.
Once we finally arrived at the Teotihuacan at 11:30, we were guided into the main square area. On the way we were provided with some spiritual healing energy activities but no history about the location. Once in the main square we were told it’s free time and that we had just over 1 hour to view the area. We walked around by ourselves watching other people enjoy very informative tours.
The buffet lunch was as expected - nothing special.
We then went to taste some tequila at a souvenir shop which was ok. The salesman was quite pushy. While here, the guide asked us if we had paid for the tour and whether we had a receipt. We said we’d paid the first person who picked us up and had no receipt - this just reinforced to us how disorganised the company was.
The final stop was the basilica however before this was another souvenir shop. We were then told to visit the basilica by ourselves with no tour at all.
We arrived back at our hotel at 7:30pm. Substantially more than the advertised 8 hours. Traffic can’t be the excuse used as it was no different to any other day and a tour company would have taken that into account as they do it daily.
If we knew about all these issues beforehand, we would have just caught public transport there and hired a tour guide at the site. Maybe it’s our own fault for trusting the hotel’s...

i've been there in october 11th, the teotihuacán tour from mexico city.
first of all, when i came to the van from hotel gillow, the cabin is okay. when they reached their last hotel, it's polluted from the outside. the staff is nice, but they've talking too much on this tour. making my head fall asleep. when we reached our first destination, the tour guide was talking about some type of building is old.
by the time we reached teotihuacán, they let us listen about the history of teotihuacán, the sun position, etc. after they finished listened, they let us do free time. after the teotihuacán is over, we came to the buffet. which was okay. but they've charged me USD$3 for a 7up.
the third one was the worst. we been to the basilica, and the view is good. when we come back to the van, we've stuck in traffic. when the driver dropped off the people in other hotels, they've go wrong way. so they let us drop near the tower. the charging cable is not working at all.
overall, i'll get this 3 stars. the livery of the van is beautiful. the cabin was okay, but nice. the tour guide is nice and sometimes mean.
i would NOT recommend going this, if you go there, please be cautious since the drivers are going wrong way at...
Read moreHad two days of a private tour with Tours Mexico City! With a very short window of time, TMC arrange two days of touring for me with a private car, driver and guide. Alex, my guide was phenomenal. He showed me the city and surrounding area, including hot air balloon over the pyramids. His knowledge, and passion for his country and culture was evident and helped make the tours even better. He answered my many questions and I was very impressed by his knowledge. Having the drivers drop us off and pick us up efficiently was amazing. No time waiting for others. As such, we saw far more than the average person could have. The customer service, responsiveness and attention to detail make this company stand out above the rest. I can not recommend highly enough this company. I will definitely refer friends and use them on my next trip...
