This park is the best part of Cuernavaca! After coming here on several visits over a few weeks to enjoy several hours each time, here is what I can share:
On the positive side, it is full of incredible (huge) trees and beautiful, diverse plants. Everything is luscious and green, even during the dry season. It also has running streams and mini waterfalls. This creates cool temperatures, delicious fresh air, and a relaxing environment. It is a great place to take a nice walk. If you have small children, there is a petting zoo with common farm animals for a small extra fee.
On the negative side, it lacks some much-needed maintenance. Some areas of the park are blocked off and not accessible. The train does not run and the train track appears abandoned. There are lots of empty animal cages and it would be better if they were removed and their spaces converted back into natural, wild areas. The butterfly conservatory is quite sad, as there are almost no butterflies there. It is possible to see more and better butterflies freely flying around in the park naturally.
The benches in the park vary in quality; some are very good, clean, and comfortable; others are in poor condition and very uncomfortable.
There are many food stalls that sell the usual snacks (chips, fruits) and some have lunch meal options. It is possible to bring your own food and drink, but make sure that it is in re-usable containers, or else it may be denied at the entrance gate where bags are checked. (Avoid Styrofoam and most plastic packaging.)
There is a small entrance fee and security present...
Read more4 stars because not all the attractions were opened, the staff was not helpful nor kind and Gosh, the bathrooms were nasty. Then, there's a restaurant just in front of the crocodiles, where it seems to be a good option and you know you are gonna pay the price, well, I don't recommend it at all, staff is super slow and rude, food is not good, not tasty actually, their food is bad and expensive, believe me, is not worth it. Other than that, is a very beautiful place, I was amazed by the weather, the tree shades, the little water falls, the animals are in their own environment, the entrance was like 50 cents of American dollar so, it is worth it just don't go to the restaurant and hopefully if you need to go to the restroom if you are lucky, you will find it clean, and take your own paper towels cause they sell it but...
