You’re search is over! What a dream! Book here! You will not regret it: We were looking up places in Bacalar but couldn’t seem to find anywhere that was clean (read: free of mold) with access to the lagoon and friendly people. The team (Luna, Lucila, Osmar) made our stay absolutely amazing! They were so sweet, helpful, cheerful, and really made us feel welcome. Rarely encountered such friendly people and hospitality. We booked the cabana at the lagoon, which was absolutely lovely. (I don't understand some of the other reviews about the cabanas. They are excellent and very clean). The ones near the lagoon (Boa Laguna part) are indeed wooden cabins as they say. They are not completely closed indeed BUT with the great airco, lovely views, and an amazing bed, who cares? It added the charm. We slept perfectly, especially with the mosquito net, which covered the whole bedperfecly (We expected a lot of mosquitos everywhere, but there were none inside and just a few outside - during dry season). On the first night, I slipped on the deck to the lagoon and got some bruises on my arm and legs. But instantly, Luna offered any help we needed, and the next morning, someone was cleaning the decks. Later that same evening, we got offered an extra night! This room was part of Boa Vista which is next to the street but high up and breathtaking views over the lagoon. The rooms with “real” walls on the pictures are situated there. From the outside they have more concrete than wood but on the INSIDE. Woooow! One of the prettiest rooms we’ve ever had. What an amazing gesture from the hotel, and what topped it off, the reaction at the moment itself. Many hotels would have treated me as a paying guest, but Luna comforted me so thoughtfully. I felt so seen and loved that it really eased the fall. For birdlovers. The plants and trees in the domain house a great variety, including a ton of colorful butterflies and a lovely squirrel. Free use of single kayaks to go into the lagoon and a lot of options for activities (like, what was for us, the best massage ever on their secret water deck). Very romantic! All in all: the perfect place for our honeymoon.

March 2024 review. If you like details, have questions or are a Type A planner planner, here's what's up with BoaBoa. Overall 5 stars, you'll likely be happy here. *Service - excellent, attentive, speaks English *Food - they bring you oats & fruits medley with whole grain bread, butter, jam, honey. It's filling and delicious breakfast. *Vibe - very thin walls but it's made to be an eco experience, you'll hear birds clearly. Felt like we were in nature, but had mosquito meeting and air conditioning which was fabulous. *Noise - It's close to the highway (relatively) so you'll hear the trucks down shifting frequently. If you want total serenity, this might be an issue for you. You can also hear neighbors (we had the upstairss Jaguar) talking. * Bugs - you're in the jungle so there's mosquitos. But if it's windy they aren't around. They have mosquito netting and you'll need it. Bring Off Deet wipes, can put them into carry on luggage. Be sure to bring some when out for dinner, too. Everything is open to the outside for restaurants. Also bring after bite treatment. * Location - you're outside of Bacalar so there's no crowds around, the water out front is pretty quiet. It's typically 60-70 pesos to the town center, with tip I paid 100p each way. You can also walk to a few restaurants which is nice. * Restaurants - JAGUARA is a solid dinner spot. AMURA is great from breakfast, lunch, drinks, great vibe and like Jaguara right next to the lake (English speaking staff). Very comfortable seating for a afternoon lounge. TACO LOCO is along the main road and we enjoyed lunch there. * Room - we stayed in the upstairs Jaguar which had great views, I recommend it. The only room I think may be better is Tucan as you have no upstairs/downstairs neighbors and you still have a great view close to the water.

The accommodation is really fantastic! Great communication already before we arrived and also when we were there. Our room was beautiful with an amazing view to the lagoon. We also got daily breakfast delivered to our room so the service was great! We also had a massage with Emilio and we are so happy we did that as he was really good and the location was right at the lagoon. We definitely recommend to treat yourself with a massage from Emilio :) The hotel also has a private access to the lagoon where we could also use the kajaks or just relax in the hammock. The location was also really close to the little town in case you want to go for dinner. We were also allowed to stay a little bit longer in the room instead of checking out at 11 am so that was perfect for a slow packing. All in all it was a great little holiday for us. The only thing I would mention is that our room had very low water pressure in the bathroom. It was totally fine for brushing teeth or washing your face but for washing my curly hair properly it would be not enough unless you have a lot of patience haha. But thats just a small side note in case its important for someone.

A beautiful place! We had a great time and wish we had an extra night! We stayed in the toucan room and I'm pretty sure it was one of the best views! There were quite a number of ants in the room but I was expecting bugs on our trip. The bed was comfortable but we did wake up to fighting cats outside the room (which could happen anywhere) and there was some lizard chirping around the outside at night but it was part of the ambiance. The breakfast was simple but delicious! There is no restaurant at this hotel so we had a little trouble finding dinner since we hadn't planned on leaving the hotel and waited until a little late- but guest services was incredible and helped walk us through getting some food delivered! The view of the lagoon was beautiful- the dock is great but it isn't super private so expect other people to be around. It wasn't crowded and we did meet some great friends. Definitely more a quiet retreat spot and we loved it. Some of the hotels on either side had jetskis which were a little obnoxious trying to kayak, but you can't control everyone!|Overall really great experience and we would probably go back if the...
