Have been here quite a few times, it was our go-to cenote to visit when we had friends in town. I’ve recommended it to dozens of people. But this most recent visit is likely our last.
We come to relax, bring a picnic lunch with a couple drinks, enjoy the water. Not this time.
When we arrived at 11:30am on a Saturday, there was a jackhammer being used right beside the cenote. We took a table on the far side, but you couldn’t get away from the noise. After an hour I asked at the front desk about it and they said “only 10 more minutes”.
Sitting at our table with a group of 8 for lunch, a woman came up to us and started yelling at us in Spanish. It seems like they changed their rules and you’re not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages any longer, after years of it being permitted. Other groups with alcohol did not appear to be approached in this manner.

Not the peaceful experience we were expecting. Not the customer experience we had come to expect. Not likely we’ll...
Read moreI really liked this cenote. It is the underground kind. It is called 7 mouths because has 7 openings. It is actually small but cool. The water was blue and very, very clear. It is also very deep. It has stalagmites and stalactites. At some points the water almost touches the ceiling. The opening are connected with a rope you can use to pull yourself through them in case you don't swim. Inside is dark and there were bats. It is exciting, almost scary. There is an opening about 4 meters high that brave ones owed to jump...
Read moreVery nice small underwater system. The access in/out of the cenote entrances are tight but well maintained. There is some rustic huts outside with tables and hammocks (nice), but keep an eye on your valuables. hey charge about $300 pesos per person, which can add up quickly for a group. Most of the cave is underwater, so if there are just a few groups there it will feel crowded inside the cenote... and remember it is in the middle of the jungle, watch-out for bugs and other...
