My wife and I stopped over for B'fast and we had an unfortunate incident with our vehicle and ended up being there from 8.30am till 11pm until the vehicle was repaired. Throughout this very worrying & stressful time the Manager Navin and steward Nishantha were simply outstanding in delivering first class customer service. Navin put us at ease making us comfortable at the premises and taking over the responsibility to sort things out for us and arranged for a mechanic to come over and get the necessary repair done. He showed outstanding customer care and concern and constantly checked on our well being and also kept checking on the repair progress. Despite the restaurant closure time they stayed with us till late in the night until the vehicle repair was completed and we left the premises at 11pm. Even thereafter Navin called us twice to check on our safe arrival to Nuwara Eliya. Having worked for over 3 decades in the Tourism & Leisure sector the service we experienced was simply outstanding, one which will always be top class for us. A sincere thank you Navin and Nishantha and well done to the leadership team of Mlesna. As mentioned in many reviews, the overall ambience, the view of St.Clair water fall, tea plantation and the architectural beauty of the castle is truly wonderful. We had the beef burger which was so good that on our return journey to say thank you to the team once again we decided to have that beef burger again. Also the chocolate cake is awesome. As always the ginger tea with kitul jaggery is fabulous. That jaggery is super! The tea center and sales outlet is great for those tea lovers and you are sure to get something for your taste buds. Great value for money and the quality of the food & beverage served...

A must stop over place to visit when ever I travel to Nuwara Eliya through Avissawella - Hatton Road. I have been visiting the establishment even before the castle was build, where the establishment was few meters further up towards Nuwara Eliya from where it is now. (The old place still in operation as a sales outlet... but have not been there as I tend to love the view from the new location far better).

Having said this, I do enjoy a good cup of plain tea infused with ginger seated in the balcony of the castle.

Oooh almost forgot the best of the best is there chocolate cake a must have. It is quite light and airy and is served with warmed chocolate syrup running over the cake. I tend to eat at least two pieces before I take to the tea, which again would be two cups of it, as I would love to sit and sip the tea whilst watching the ever changing weather patterns of the landscape, and the watch the vehicles pass by, and to feel the cool weather just rub on your skins and pass by, a feeling that love to bits.

Recommended going up the watch tower and see the surroundings and that would definitely take your breath away.

Washroom facilities are great and extremely clean, and is maintained properly, though vandalized by few unappreciative visitors with no brains. But hats off to the cleaning staff who is ever so nice to make sure to visit the wash room regularly and check the status and clean.

A lovely place where one can enjoy with you never feeling the time you being passed by. Thus, its best recommended when you are not pressed for time. Non the less even for the rushing traveler, it is a good place to sit down and have a cup of tea and be refreshed (But loose on the relaxing bit).
