I booked a return cable car and alpine coaster. On July 9th we went to the cable cars. We had a good experience going up, however as soon as we got off we were told we needed to go back down as they were closing soon due to weather conditions, so we were unable to go on the alpine coaster.

I understand that weather conditions are unpredictable, so we agreed and began to queue to return back down. However after finally making it to the end of the queue, we were informed that no more cars were going down as it was too dangerous. Again, I understand that the weather is unpredictable, so we listened and were told that a bus would be coming for us. As it was extremely cold, we wanted to shelter in the restaurant, but were initially turned away and told they were ‘closed’, even though the sign says closing at 22:00. This was extremely inconsiderate and disappointing, as everyone was trapped outside in the freezing cold. Eventually we were let in and offered snacks which was nice. However, we had to wait several hours for a bus, with minimal updates from workers. Eventually the majority workers left and it was just tourists waiting hours and hours for a bus in the freezing cold. Eventually, a bus came in the middle of night, and without explanation we had to go through Budva before returning to Kotor, and we only managed to return to Kotor bus station at midnight, which is absolutely unacceptable.

Additionally, we were initially told by the workers that we were to meet ‘Valentina’ down at the cable car station when the bus came, and she would explain the proceedings for getting refunds etc. However because of the delays which were not communicated to us, as mentioned before, we only returned at midnight, and there was no communication from anyone regarding refunds.

It was an absolutely horrible experience. Unfortunately I will not be returning despite having an alpine coaster ticket to be used, as the treatment was absolutely deplorable. Furthermore, no one has reached out to apologize or regarding the refund process despite being told someone would.

Would...

Totally disappointed!

I feel scammed, angry, upset and in otter disbelief. They sold us tickets knowing they were going to close due to poor weather in 10 Minutes and just to make 46 euros more, they let us on the gondola to get to the top and tell Us in a very unclear voice that they were shutting down the place. After making us wait in a huge line which ok there’s nothing they can do about it; they put as all in a restaurant that wasn’t even serving telling us the bus would take us down. We waited three, THREE hours for the bus basically caged in. Every about 50 minutes a van would arrive and everybody would run to it like animals, it was truly a nasty situation to put us into; they didn’t even explain what was happening, after the first van came the staff that was supposedly keeping things under control took the first van and left. We were literally all tourists just standing there waiting. The only staff available on site was security which they were locked up in their offices and in various occasions especially when we had to ran to the vans they were filming us and laughing; just a huge lack of respect but mostly just people being mean; there were little kids crying and they were filming laughing, it’s insane. After three long hours in which they gave us some snacks which of course weren’t enough for everybody, the bus arrived but it took 2 hours to get to the parking on the floor so I did not only loose my Last night in Montenegro on my honeymoon but they took so long for everything that when I arrived to the old town everything was closed so I couldn’t eat. It was just the worst experience. I want to make myself clear, the view is outstanding and they are not to be blamed for the weather, but they are to be blamed for their poor behavior towards tourists that don’t speak the language, for neglecting information and for staff finding it amusing how others were suffering. Otter disbelief. I am not recommending...

The worst experiencie in my whole life. We were scammed, but that is nothing compare with what we lived. They should pay us three times what we paid.

We went up in the góndola, the moment we arrived to the top they started anmouncing by speackers that we all have to go down because of the windy conditions. Ok, they do not control the weather but, they could told us this possibility in the ground and recommend not to go up, but they where dumb or prefered to rob us. Doesn’t matter, we went down I said, one more scam in my life it’s fine. But now stars the story…

Inmediatley afterwards they stopped the góndola and the staff started to tell the people that busses were coming for us. It was cold, and the people started to run to find refuge on the restaurant. The staff of the place, didn’t let the people in, till they saw old people and children dying of coldness and they let us in. 4 staff members of the restaurant without selling a single coffee, they prefered to tidy the place and say that the bar was closed. 3 hours waiting the for the buses to arrive, and they came one per hour. People running like cattle to have a spot in the bus. Finally 10 pm in the bus. Meanwhile, nobody of the cable car Starigrad explained anything. They even’t stayed with us. They disapeared. When we thought we were done with the bus ride, we had a 2 hour trip to the parking staition, yes 2 more hours!!!!!!!!! Insane, the bus went to Budva and then all the way round to the station. We lost the dinner restaurant reservation and we couldn’t eat.

We arrived 12pm to the car. The WORST...

Breathtaking views, especially at sunset, make this a must-visit. The shops are excellent, with helpful staff and sensibly priced items. Queues for the rollercoaster (€8) and the return cable car can be very long around 6:00 PM. I eventually skipped the rollercoaster to avoid missing the 9:00 PM shuttle bus back. Tips for your visit: • Take a jacket or scarf. It gets chilly at the top. Shops sell good-quality scarves and hoodies at fair prices. • Wear comfortable shoes. There are steps, uneven paths, hiking trails and plenty of standing in queues . • Dress well. People are stylish here, as it’s an Instagram-worthy experience. Shuttle Service: Kotor Cable Car now runs a shuttle from Kotor Bus Station and Budva Bus Station. A round trip costs €35 from Budva and includes the cable car ride. Departures begin at 5:25 PM, with return at 9:00 PM. I found this to be a cost-effective and efficient way to visit as a tourist. Tip: Book online before 12:00 OM for a same day visit. Booking online gives you fast track access to the cable cars at the Lower DUB Station helping you skip the queues. Check which bus station is closest to your accommodation so you can disembark quickly. I used Google Maps to track stops and distances to my hotel, a real time saver. Overall: Absolutely worth it for the views and atmosphere, especially at sunset.

Amazing ride with great views - you can get a ticket from the upper station of kotor cable car for around 6-8 euros The ride closes by the first week of November . You might have to buy a return ticket for kotor cable car.

The Kotor Cable Car is truly one of the best experiences you can have when visiting Montenegro. The ride itself is smooth and comfortable, and in just a few minutes you are lifted high above the Bay of Kotor with views that are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the bay, the old town, and the surrounding mountains from above feels like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The cabins are modern, clean, and safe, and the staff are very professional and friendly. At the top, there is a nice viewpoint area where you can take photos, enjoy the scenery, and even grab a coffee or something to eat while overlooking one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. What I liked most is that the cable car saves a lot of time compared to driving up the old serpentine road, and the views are even better. It’s perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers who want to see Montenegro’s beauty from a unique perspective. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kotor – it’s worth every cent, and it will give you memories and photos you’ll never forget.
