Local from Montenegro here, Every now and then, l go with my family and have great time. The pleace is peacefull, but l can not explain the beauty of this place by only words... Her is something little about this place.

Biogradska Gora  is a forest and a national park in Montenegro within Kolašin municipality. It is the site of one of the last three large virgin forests in Europe. The landscape is one of mountain ridges, glacial lakes, and temperate forest. Although it is the one of smallest of five national parks in Montenegro, Biogradska Gora National Park contains great diversity of flora and fauna. There are 26 different habitats of plants with 220 different plants, 150 species of birds, and 10 species of mammals live in this Park and in its forest, there are 86 species of trees and shrubs. In the waters of the park exist three species of trout and 350 species of insects. Rainfall is extremely high in the area, averaging up to 100 inches per year, and allows the growth of temperate rainforest. One of the unique features of the park is its virgin forest, Biogradska Gora (16 km²) with trees over five hundred years old. In the very heart of virgin forest is Biogradsko Lake, the largest glacier lake in this National park. The most common tree species around the lake are European beech, sycamore maple and European ash, and on the slopes beech...

A beautiful area for walks. We purchased the yearly pass online for €13.50 which works out best if you're visiting any of the national parks in Montenegro for more than 2 visits. Many of the paths up to the lake view points are within forest so there's not much in the way of views as you go. But it does keep you a little bit cooler. Where there are view points it's nice to stop and have a bite to eat. The paths are hard going as it's upwards all the way.. and some paths are quite narrow and slanted so it's tough on your ankles. The lake itself is easily accessible by the car park. We found it more beautiful later in the day with the reflections giving...

The most beautiful lake in Montenegro is hidden in the Bjelasica Mountains: Lake Biograd (Biogradsko Jezero). The lake forms the core of the Biogradska Gora National Park. The 1,600-hectare park includes one of the three last primeval forests in Europe. There is a very pleasant and beautiful walking path around the lake that you should not miss when you...
