Touristic rip off location.

The view isn't bad, it's nice, but it's a lot of hassle to see it. It's not intended to be easy, it's intended to make money off of tourists.

You can take the lift up, but it's expensive. Driving up there, you'll see a sign that states only non commercial vehicles or so. The road itself states busses, but despite that taxis are allowed up there without being a bus.

If you do end up going there with your car, a cop will stop you. He'll want a bribe of 400 MAD with a threat of impounding the car. Whatever you pay them, they won't actually issue a ticket and no paperwork is made, it's officially a bribe. If you play chicken, he'll let you go and can't do anything about it, because what he's doing is illegal.

Parking at the lot, you can take a taxi, it's 5 MAD per person. Should not be more. They take 3 at a time.

Entering the building up there costs money, so we just walked. It's not much of an area to walk in, but it's a nice view. There is a store. The bathroom is dirty and not maintained, don't pay the fee because it's a public bathroom.

Going down, the taxi was supposed to take only 3 people. He looked directly at the cab as he took 4 of us at a time. The passanger was putting on the seat belt, which is a law, but they said no need. He did this right in front of the cap, as none of us wore the seat belt including the driver.

Clearly, the threat of a ticket and the bribe isn't about legality. It's about bribery.

There is a person sitting by the parking lot that's going to ask for money. This isn't an official lot, not their lot, nor is it legal to take money from you. Don't pay that either.

Agadir Oufla is the local name of the Kasbah of Agadir. The word "Agadir" means "fort," and "Oufla" is an Amazigh word meaning "above." Agadir Ofla, therefore, implies the fortress at the top.

The Kasbah was destroyed for the first time in November 1755 during Lisbon earthquake, and again in 1960, during the Agadir earthquake.

The Kasbah underwent a major restoration in 2002, and the Kasbah was renovated again in 2020.
