Situated atop the Mandalay hill, many devotees choose to walk all the way up as do many tourists and health enthusiasts. Once one reaches its base, there are stairs as well as an escalator to go up. There is a divine beauty in this place. There is elaborate mirrorwork on the arched corridors encircling the inner shrines. It is a place that offers beautiful outer and inner views. One thing definitely needs to be pointed out with regard to all places of importance, religious, historical, cultural or even political, in Myanmar---' it would be of great service to one and all if there were display boards and inscriptions in English as well along side the local...

This Pagoda is no where near the best I have seen in Myanmar but is worth the effort for the view of the Mandalay region. If you don't get transport to car park or elevator level, you can walk up the stairs (30+ mins I'm told) from the base or catch the ferry transport for 1000 Kyat. You could be left sitting in the truck for sometime before it departs. We were just short of 1 hour. We were taking a Grab Tuk Tuk to the car park level but were told by the driver he could not go up there so he dropped us at the base. So be careful you may be able to book the Grab, but it doesn't mean they will get you there. We used Grab exclusively while here but had no...

Affogato is a pagoda one of my friends wants said to me and I kind of agree with them except for a couple of very special places in Myanmar where there is a super gold or a super big or a super old or just so many pagodas that it's quite a spectacle to see or even in some places where they have like a hundred white pagodas and then that's kind of special or maybe there's a pagoda that's what I Hill and because I hail you can see the sunset and it reflects off the top of the Pagoda but otherwise you know a pagoda is a pagoda is a pagoda and in Myanmar there are a lot of pagodas this particular Pagoda...

At the top of the hill is the Sutaungpyei (literally wish-fulfilling) Pagoda. A panoramic view of Mandalay from the top of Mandalay Hill alone makes it worthwhile to attempt a climb up its stairways. There are four covered stairways called saungdan leading up the hill from the south, southeast, west and north, and convenient seats of masonry work line these stairways all the way up. A one-way motor road today saves time and also makes it accessible for those who are unable to climb up the stairs, leading to an escalator and a lift to the pagoda at the summit.

We did a sunrise Myself walk from the Mandalay Palace all the way to the top to Su Taung Pyae Pagoda today. I took us about 3 hrs return as we made the effort to view most of the Buddha's and Pagodas on the way up. The 360 view from the top was awesome and we heard the Monk chanting all the way up across the sound systems. I would recommend this hill hike to everyone. If you dont like exercise or dont have much time you could get a car to drive you up most of the way.
