Situated atop the Mandalay hill, many devotees choose to walk all the way up as do many tourists and health enthusiasts. Once one reaches its base, there are stairs as well as an escalator to go up. There is a divine beauty in this place. There is elaborate mirrorwork on the arched corridors encircling the inner shrines. It is a place that offers beautiful outer and inner views. Read moreThis Pagoda is no where near the best I have seen in Myanmar but is worth the effort for the view of the Mandalay region. If you don't get transport to car park or elevator level, you can walk up the stairs (30+ mins I'm told) from the base or catch the ferry transport for 1000 Kyat. You could be left sitting in the truck for sometime before it departs. We were just short of 1 hour. We were taking a Grab Tuk Tuk to the car park level but were told by the driver he could not go up there so he dropped us at the base.
