Our Kathmandu valley is surrounded by hills and beautiful small villages. That is why we have many destinations that we can choose to feel the fresh air of refreshing nature. Marble Dada is one such short hiking destination where you will walk into the lush green forest with a narrow path.

The hilltop got its name after a Marble Factory that was established long ago, which now is not in operation. Since the building still lies there, and the spot is known by the factory, the hike up to the hilltop is also called MARBLE Dada.

The path up to the hill is freshening with the smell, the sound, and cool air flowing. It would be around 20-25 minutes walk with blues sky above and green trees around accompanied by the beautiful chirping sound of the birds. The main relish comes when you reach the top. The view from the dada (hilltop) is not quite an every-day scene. Once you are there, you can experience the beautiful green hills and small valleys that you can spot with your eyes, far away from the city. You might want to spend an hour or so in the spot with a calming view and enjoy with your friends, with some snacks and chit chats.

With our busy schedule with jobs and studies, we’ve forgotten to take a short break into the nature that we residents of Kathmandu are blessed with. We have many mesmerizing natural spots that we can explore. Marble Dada is the best location for those new to hiking, as the trail is short and will exceed your expectations. You can visit this destination with your...

Marble Dada is a viewpoint where you can see beautiful scenes of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, green forest hills, the building of the International Conference Hall, and National Herbarium & Plant Laboratories (KATH). The largest herbarium in Nepal. Homes more than 170,000 plant specimens. A unique collection of botany and flora in the library. Phulchoki at the foot of the hill. A view from marble dada is breathtaking. When you stand from the viewpoint of marble dada, you start to feel the touch of fresh air on your skin and the beautiful scenario of Marble Dada makes you feel like you’re in heaven.

is located in the southern part of Lalitpur. It is most famous for the Botanical Garden. It is a garden where you can find various kinds of plants, trees, and birds. It has a fabulous environment and is a very popular destination for hiking because of its rich wildlife. It also a popular place for a picnic for family and friends. In fact, Godawari is known as the best picnic spot in Nepal.

Now a days godawari is famous for the dating spot for the youth generation. The youths girls and boys went there and spend their time with the nature. We can also develop godawari as a nature walk destination . Another more is the bird watching destination. Because of the rich in Nature this place is also better for the professors also.

As marbel dada we can go through hiking or by road just a bike / cycle . For vechile we need a sepcial pass which only will be given to the...

Marble Danda, very good place. Loved its location and it's beauty. Though the way satdobato-godawari is so much dhulo duwa. This place worth the struggle reaching there. You can take food water from base or home and enjoy eating with friends family. Direction: satdobato road, reach to godawari bus stop. Take straight ahead on the way going to phulchowki. (You will be charged 10rs for entry at the base,Forest depart related charge I guess), once you start moving you will see "Lama khaja ghar", There is field on the side of that khaja ghar. You can park your bike scooter there. From there you will see old marble factory, if you look at the right top you will see marble danda. There is small road going up there. You can follow the road or there is small steeper road you can follow if you want shortcuts or adventure. Otherwise simply you can follow the good unpitched gravel road.

It was a very good hike for us. The moment we reached the top of the hill the view from there was majestic like if we were flying in between hills. You could almost experience the 360 views of hills surrounding the marble dada. The only thing I had trouble with was the location. At first there aren't any clear signs of which direction we should be heading. Trusting Google map, the hill was right over there but no way to go around what so ever. The trail that leads to the hill should have proper directions and a well maintained road for 2 wheelers as I saw 2 wheelers were taking a rough route to the hill. Apart from that, the view from the top is absolutely phenomenal. I suggest the person who wants refreshments and wants to hike near Kathmandu is this marble dada. Though the place is very near from the bus stop so there isn't much to call hike.
