It spans the busy Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and connects the city’s east side with Diemerpark and via this park with the new residential area IJburg. The bridge consists of a 160-metre middle section and two approaches, which are 255 and 270 metres long respectively. These long approach routes provide an easy gradient for users. Pedestrians can ascend on both sides via a stairway. It is an award-winning cycle and footbridge in the Netherlands and was designed by Jim Eyre of London-based Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
