Incredible palace, with a magnificent gardens. The whole complex is very well maintained and it seems it had a renovation recently.

We bought the tickets at the place, only because we wanted to buy the museum card, but online is also possible. The price for adults starts at almost 20 euros, so the museum card was perfect, and you already cover 1/3 of the price of it.

The whole complex can be divided into, the gardens, the palace, the palace rooftop, the stables, the garage and the woods that are behind the garden which take you to other things like “Het Oude Loo”, but that was not included in the price.

It is important to keep in mind that we you buy your ticket, you get a visit slot, and you have to be there at that time. You start with the east or west wing of the palace, and then the rooftop, all three tours take you back to the main staircase taking you back to the lobby where the audio guides are for a price of 2-3 euros. If you don’t want to pay the audio guide, there’s an app that you can download for free, if you have no data plan, the palace has free WiFi so you can rely on that. There are some signs with the password.

You can see everything in 1-2hs depending on how interested you are in the audios. On average each audio last 2-4 minutes and there are about 10-15 stops per palace wing.

The complex has a small cafe at the end of the gardens, and a restaurant at the entrance where the ticket office is located. Prices are alright.

The palace has lockers and toilet, the ask you to leave your backpack there.

I really enjoyed visiting this place, it remind me a bit to the Palace of Versailles. If in doubt, I couldn’t recommend it more.

I was there on a Sunday, not too crowded. Enough to enjoy and be able to...

A Majestic Day Trip Steeped in Royal History

Paleis Het Loo is an absolutely beautiful palace that offers a rich and immersive experience into Dutch royal history. From the moment you arrive, the charm begins—whether you choose to walk the paved path to the main palace or opt for the convenient €1 shuttle ride, the journey sets the tone for a memorable visit.

Once inside, the grandeur is undeniable. The rooms are meticulously restored and provide a vivid glimpse into how the royal family once lived. Each space is thoughtfully curated and filled with detail, offering both elegance and authenticity.

You have a choice in how to explore—either with a free, well-designed booklet that guides you room by room or by renting the app and headphones for an engaging audio tour. Both options enhance the experience depending on your preference.

The gardens are a true highlight, reminiscent of a smaller version of Versailles. They are beautifully laid out and perfect for a leisurely stroll. You’ll want to take your time soaking in the symmetrical designs, fountains, and blooming greenery.

There are also two lovely on-site shops offering tasteful, non-touristy gifts and items—perfect for a keepsake or special gift. And when you need a break, there’s a charming restaurant near the former stables with a simple, satisfying menu and pleasant outdoor seating.

Just an hour and 20 minutes by car from Amsterdam, Paleis Het Loo makes for an ideal day trip. The combination of history, beauty, and atmosphere makes this a must-visit destination for anyone interested in royal heritage, architecture, or simply a day of cultured exploration. I can...

Beautiful Palace in The Netherlands. It's located a bit far from center of Apeldoorn , can take bus from train station or rent a bicycle, it's around 4-5 km from Apeldoorn train staion. If you come with a car, parking fee is 8 euro per day. Plenty of parking. Normal price of entry is 21 euro, 9.50 euro for kids and free for below 3 year old. Free with Museumkaart. Additional cost for Audio tour. No need to book in advance.

We went there for May so it's blooming time for Rhododendron in Palace's garden. There are hugh park to walk around and lake for geese and other animals. It's peaceful there in the park.

In the palace is a museum with Big exhibition about Dutch royal family, could take hours to read everything. nicely done. You can go to rooftop (have elevator) to enjoy beautiful view of the garden (also have blankets and umbrella to borrow) The palace itself is not too big, has route to walk along to see rooms, we went there on Saturaday so bit crowded but fine.

There are 2 restaurants , one before palace, next to the garage and one in the palace, similar food. You can have nice lunch , cake , drinks there. Very good service and friendly staffs.

Also friendly kids museum, has acitivties for kids.

** Have shuttle bus service from ticket office to the palace and garden -...
