We’ve visited Slagharen both in September and October 2018. In September we stayed there with a Groupon coupon and slept for 2 days in a Cowboy Cottage. The accommodation was okay, a bit old, but clean. The pull-out couch meant for adults though should certainly be changed because its surface isn’t straight anymore and it squeaks when moving a finger. The park, due to the fact that school season had started and the weather wasn’t that awesome, was basically empty. We could stay sit on rides and never needed to stand in line. I liked the consistent theming but found it a pity that most food and beverage outlets and shops were closed. Also, many rides that my 2 year old son could take in another attraction park, was forbidden for him to take here. ||The evening show for overnight guests was fun, the Red Bandit actor (the guy with a pony) did his utmost to entertain. Dinner and breakfast buffets were also fine, though quite pricy. ||We all loved the water park; it’s really creative and entertaining. ||||Unfortunately our return wasn’t that much fun anymore. We too my mother with us and stayed in a Racoon Lodge which is of much higher quality than the Cowboy Cottage, but it takes a bit longer to walk to the park. We arrived on a Saturday when apparently an insurance company rented out the whole park. We’ve received no information forehand about the changed check-in location and all the organizers from the insurance company had no idea where to direct us and claimed that we were not even supposed to be there (although we paid close to €400 for a night’s stay). When mentioning this issue during check-in the receptionist lady grumpily told us that we were supposed to check a sub-menu on the website where events are indicated. Honestly, who does that...? I went directly to the booking page and the process went thru, therefore I supposed that we will be welcomed. ||Although the park was only open for the insurance company’s guests and overnight guests, it was LOADED. I’ve been in Disneyland and I can confidently say that the crowd was comparable. We managed to sit on only 3 rides the whole day. ||In the evening we headed to the dinner location indicated on our dinner voucher, however we found the restaurant closed. An employee who was cleaning there directed us to the temporary dinner location (change had been made for this event). There we were told that in our envelope there was a paper explaining everything about this day including the location change, but after reading thru this leaflet several times, we could still not find this information.||The evening program with another actor being the Red Bandit was also a disappointment. Both him and his side-kick disappeared mid-dance and left the playback version songs on for the kids to dance alone (kid disco). ||All in all, Slagharen is a really nice place, but communication was horror. I wish we would have not gone back that soon so the first experience would be the one to...

Read moreI had an unpleasant experience with the establishment. I made an online reservation, and my friend’s children wanted to stay close to my lodging so they could play with my children. The father inquired at the reception about the possibility of setting up his tent near mine, and he was informed that it was possible for an additional fee of 30 euros. He received a payment link via email, completed the transaction, and obtained a confirmation. Upon our arrival, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an additional 30 euros. I explained that we had previously called and were told that only my friend needed to pay the extra fee. However, the receptionist was uncooperative and threatened to withhold the key, refuse a refund, and cancel my booking if I did not pay. Her demeanor was indescribable, and when I requested to speak with a supervisor, she claimed to be the person in charge. This left me concerned about the level of customer service provided by the rest of the staff. I returned later that afternoon, hoping that the earlier incident was a misunderstanding or that the receptionist had been upset about something else. I approached another staff member with the same question regarding the additional payment, but she was unable to provide a clear explanation and simply stated that the matter had been addressed that morning. She then disregarded me and attended to another customer. I am still seeking clarification from someone at the facility as to why I am required to pay the additional fee when my friend has already done so. If this issue is not resolved, I regret to say that this will be my last visit. This experience has marred my vacation and left me with negative feelings. I believe that even if I were seeking assistance from the reception, the staff should maintain a polite and kind demeanor towards customers. Additionally, our children were deeply upset and bewildered by the incident. They found no enjoyment in their stay and repeatedly questioned the receptionist’s manner of speaking to us. This distress led them to express a desire to leave and return home. The situation has been incredibly frustrating, and it’s unfortunate when a service experience doesn’t meet expectations, especially when it affects the entire family’s enjoyment of a vacation. We are still awaiting a satisfactory explanation or any form of clarification...
