Katwijks Museum — Attraction in Katwijk

This morning I visited the Katwijks Museum, this museum in Katwijk aan Zee is located in a shopping street and a car-free zone surrounded by zones with paid parking. Today I chose to go by bike as it is within the radius of what I still bike. (Bicycle racks available) The museum staff was nice and helpful. By scanning my museum card I was able to enter. Wij zijn speciaal naar het Katwijks Museum gekomen voor de overzichtstentoonstelling "After Nature" van Aad Donker. Een absolute must voor liefhebbers van hedendaagse expressionistische schilderkunst. De expositie is zeer verzorgd van opzet en toont naast werken gemaakt in Katwijk, New York en Suriname ook zijn vele zelfportretten, waarvan met name zijn laatste een diepe indruk maakt. Neem wel een smartphone mee met een QR-reader app! De naast de werken geplaatste codes geven middels Soundcloud verdiepende achtergrondinformatie. De rest van het museum toont veelal 19e-eeuwse schilderijen, scheepsmodellen en er zijn ook een paar stijlkamers en een rijke verzameling voorwerpen in relatie tot de historie van Katwijk. Alles is even verzorgd gepresenteerd en goed toegankelijk voor mindervaliden. En bezoek aan dit museum mag niemand dan ook nalaten tijdens een dagje Katwijk!
