Purmerends Museum — Attraction in Purmerend

Beautiful town museum, might seem small from the outside but it's full of historical items and interesting facts about Purmerends and the surrounding area.

The upstairs floor has just been renovated, it has a digital map showing you the development of the area and how the city grew through the centuries. There is a collection of items and media, concerning various topics such as transportation methods, farming, cheese production, the draining of the marshes, ships, etc.

The pottery and ceramic pieces at the first and ground floor are beautiful and one of a kind, produced locally between the 19th and 20th century.

Eergisteren bezocht. Sympathieke ontvangst door de heren achter de balie. Op de begane grond mooie presentatie van in Purmerend vervaardigd plateel. Blijf het bijzonder vinden dat dit in Holland voor de eigen markt is geproduceerd. Op de eerste verdieping aandacht voor ontwerpers en architecten. Leuk nu te weten dat de ontwerpen van gebouwen die mij altijd hebben geïntrigeerd van de hand van Jan Stuyt zijn. Op de tweede verdieping o.m.: arrensleeën, foto's (bijv.: eerste auto in Purmerend, dempingen van waterwegen, etc.) akten, landkaarten, landregistratiekaarten, verordeningen, bekendmakingen en een tentoonstelling over de veemarkt.
