Have recently discovered this fantastic, new park (as more people in the area of Utrecht are doing), designed by the world-renowned landscape and garden designer Piet Oudolf (b. 1944), designer of the popular "Highline" park in Manhattan. Visit first the big Castellum, modelled on a historic, ancient Roman fort at this site, then walk, skate, bike, or run the 10 kilometer, broad "Lint," bringing you completely around the park. Or even better: take the old Alendorperweg beginning near the Castellum, then do a little jog, and take the Enghlaan, to savor the old Dutch landscape of green farms and luxurious villas, with their sumptuous gardens, and see Oudolf''s brilliant additions, like a "butterfly park." It stretches for roughly 10 kilometers all around. There's a small botanical garden in the park, a big sports complex and a swimming complex.
