I was visiting Neeltje Jans with 2 American friends (both 62 and 1 having walk issues). I am Dutch so you want to be proud on the Delta Works. It started with the entry price of 4 x € 23.50. OK, you think, it's unique, so it must be worth it. But it turned out to be a disappointment. First of all you also had to pay extra for the little boat trip. Again 4 x € 4. And because 1 of the Americans had difficulty walking, we decided not to take the "guided tour of the inner storm surge barrier" which would have been another 4x € 3.50. So, If you opt for € 23.50 per person, what do you get ? You will see the Delta Experience and a film about 1953 and the building of the delta works. "Seadreams the movie" was not available that day due to the fact that the movie theater was being renovated. For the rest there was a small exhibition about the influence of plastic on the marine environment (all interesting for small children). And all other attractions with seals, the interior of a whale and the hurricane machine is really for (small) children. On the boat tour there was nothing special to see. Something is explained through a bad speaker (and the first 15 minutes everything was only told in the German language, of which our Americans of course didn't understand anything; only later suddenly English did appear to exist). We also wanted to have a small lunch at the pavilion. And had ordered, among other things, a "haute-dog". The "chef" said it would take 10 minutes because they only made it by order. We were given such a sound/light disc that would make sound/light when the food was ready. After having paid, the waiting started. After not hearing/seeing anything for half an hour, we walked to the "chef" and asked why it took so long for the famous "haute dogs" stayed. Well: his answer was: it is so busy, so it takes longer. And after another 5 minutes we got them, and then they turned out to be lukewarm. Apparently if you have paid, other customers áfter you are much more important to be served, than sticking to the promised 10 minutes waiting. To leave the park we also had to pay € 7.50 parking fee. All in all € 165.50 in total (incl. the small lukewarm lunch with a drink). I was pretty ashamed for my American guests. What an enormously poor price/quality ratio. I always receive a lot of foreign guests, but Neeltje Jans will no longer be on the list of Dutch attractions...
Read moreThis is a small but very pleasant amusement park. They are handling corona measures responsibly, but we still stuck to the outdoor attractions. We opened our visit with the seal show at 11.00, followed by a bit of time on the playground before lining up for the boat tour. The boat tour around the Deltaworks is nice, some of the seagulls were actually charming.
The 45 boat tour is narrated nicely via a recording on 4 languages, so better to read up as you like before this day, but there are plenty of information boards for those who want to read if not chasing small children. We enjoyed a nice warm fish lunch, lines were a bit long, but staff was very nice and the food was good. The sea lion show was charming. Our children closed out our visit in the water slide playground. Unfortunately it was a typically chilly and disappointing 20 C, so we decided to dry off and depart for home by 15:30. We were tempted to see a film, but the kids were actually too cold and tired and COVID-19 made us think better to avoid the theater. Had the weather been warmer we would have stayed longer.
All in all the day was a good value, kids enjoyed it (maybe even learned something) and we can recommend it as a...
Read moreOkay experience, funfactor for the kids is good enough to have a great day in the summer. But value for money- wise it's a no-go for my family next time. The park needs an upgrade/maintanance and for something so incredible as this wonder of the world (Deltawerken) this park is really a shame on info/experiencing this wonder. If they'd lower the price with at least 5-10 euro a person I'd consider going again. Otherwise I won't come back again and I'll go to Duinrell, Linnaeushof or something alike or just one of the beautiful...
