I'm lucky enough to live in this beautiful harbour so of course I'm going to give 5 stars... Spectacular views, really makes for some fantastic photos... Love to get fish & chips & eat them on the grassy green memorial gardens. A well kept little town, but like all small towns they too come with their share of problems, Eg 'Small town syndrome' as I now have named it, meaning; 'When other people can't help but talk about other people.' Often breaching confidentiality when it comes to certain businesses... It's a real shame, unpleasant & very inappropriate... Sadly we are stuck & very limited for choice unless would like to drive you Chch so no other choice but to endure these people......

This was one of many stops on my cruise tour of New Zealand. It was a great stop. Got off the cruise ship and once ashore, the locals were absolutely fantastic. Nice, friendly and welcoming! I ended up taking a walk over to the local museum and a cafe. The museum was good and had a great layout. I then found myself at the House of Giants which was a fantastic place to visit. Overall, I really enjoyed my brief stay in Akaroa and I find myself wanting to go back to New Zealand for another visit to really take in all there is to see and do in this...

One of the best places to visit in New Zealand. If you are marine life lover really good place to visit. Place is a harbour and have tour facility to travel through south part. They have package options for swimming with dolphins as well as observing the marine life through cruise. You can watch dolphins, seals, penguins. The harbour also have quite good options for foodies. You can see old houses of French colony. Also some Maori people temples and community centers. Overall really good...

A huge Harbour created from what must of been a huge volcanic explosion. Originally settled by the French you will see their legacy in the street names . The town itself is very easily walked around with lots of interesting shops and cafes. We tendered from our ship to the Wharf and there were literally dozens of tour operators offering everything from Dolphin watching to trips to Christchurch, Working farms and wineries .
