Haruru Falls💦💦 is a 5m high waterfall near the settlement of Haruru in the Far North District, about 5km West of Paihia.

In Te Reo Māori the word "Haruru" means "continuous noise" or "roar" 🔊 The lagoon on the downstream side of the falls was New Zealand's 🇳🇿 first river port, used by both Māori and early missionaries ⛪️

This is where the mighty Waitangi River is strongest 😲 and the Haruru Falls walking track 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️follows the water as it ebbs towards the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and out into the Bay ⛵️

It is a short walk 🚶‍♀️ to the falls from the Haruru carpark 🚗 There are a few steep steps

The track is about 6km 😰 and will take you (not me) 2.5 hours to walk one way. It’s a ‘there and back track’ so you can either park your car 🚗 by the entrance to the track at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, or in the carpark at Haruru Falls. Parts of it is quite a nice walk, but a lot of it is...

Cool place to kayak and get some cool family photos

You go to the top parking and you can walk down to the top of the falls , don't think you'll be able to jump off the falls , I haven't seen anyone do it so yeah wouldn't recommend

If you drive further down the road to the camping grounds, there's a little place where you can put your kayaks in the water and kayak to the bottom of the waterfalls and also follow the water out to paihia beach which brings you out to the bridge, we did it this morning and it took us about 40 minutes with the tide going out so yeah not too bad and you can't get lost so pretty easy Gets a little windy when you go around one corner and you...

Located just a short drive from Paihia in the Bay of Islands, Haruru Falls is a charming and peaceful waterfall that's definitely worth a visit. The falls are not as dramatic as some of New Zealand's larger waterfalls, but they are still beautiful, with a wide, horseshoe-shaped cascade that drops gently into the surrounding bushland.

The walk to the falls is easy and accessible, with a well-maintained trail leading through native bush. The falls are especially picturesque after rain when the flow is at its strongest. It’s a great spot for a relaxed stroll, a picnic by the river, or a quiet...

One more must visit place! It’s a very short walk to the falls from the parking area, and they ar pretty amazing to see! One of our favorite stops on our New Zealand road trip. There is seating to overlook the falls where you can relax and have lunch or a snack. Some visitors will swim at the base of the falls, but the river currents can be tricky, so be careful! Just add it to your list of places to visit on your New Zealand road trip! If you are lucky, and the sun angle is good, you might even see a rainbow in the mist. (As we did!)

Haruru Falls is small, but beautiful. I especially like the sinewy green slime or algae that flows with the water as it rushes over the edge. I came during the dry month so you can walk out onto the middle of the river. I saw a grandpa bathing as his granddaughter looked on. Note, the car park is closed & locked at 5pm. If you plan to stay longer and hike the 3-mi. / 5-km Kiwi Track/Trail that takes you along the river banks below the falls, it'd be better to park outside the car park on the side of the road.
