Lake Wardell — Attraction in Canterbury

Been staying here for short periods over last 20 years. Excellent for 'old' style kiwi caravanning, motor homing. Nice to have some of these areas around the country. Be a shame if anything changed. Now there,s an 'Iron Maiden', we always leave a donation. There is a very modern, clean toilet which is regularly serviced. There appears to be, unfortunately, those that still defecate under the trees without even bothering...

It's a nice Campsite, has a toilet (long drop) and proximity to the pukaki canal for fishing. The lake is pretty but not clean enough for swimming. There's a bit of road noise at the camp which isn't ideal. Plenty of sites and a range of sites near trees (good shade) and in the open...

Nice spot with plenty of camping areas. The lake itself was too overgrown in places where people weren’t camped to really see anything of it, a little underwhelming. Road noice was quite high from the main road next door, but this died off with the night and...
