Barnett Park, which includes the entire walkway, is a long, narrow strip of land in the suburb of Redcliffs, off to the right as you drive around the estuary toward Sumner, From the car park, walk south along the east side of the playing fields to a stile leading to a farmed part of the valley floor. Continue past the end of Bay View Road on the left and one of a series of electrical pylons that cross the valley. The track climbs onto the hillside on a dirt track through grasses, gorse and broom. Further up the valley, native vegetation becomes more prominent. Seating is regularly placed along the length of the track. A steep staircase leads up to the cave, which surveys the whole of the valley.

Decent trail which is accessible from parking lot with ample parking, nice views of the ocean from the cave once you reach the top. There were quite a number of benches to sit and rest on the way up, and this was very welcome coming from a uber unfit person.

The Park is quite nice, just a standard Sports field with a play ground at the front. There is a small dog exercise area to. The main event is the walk up the valley to some caves at the back. The trail is over grown and not will maintained. The EastEnders tail which is part of the loop trail but then seperates and goes up the hill is nice and maintained, but not as interesting as the loop trail. Once at the caves stairs have been added as it's quite steep. However these have been damaged by Rock fall and not fixed so pretty dodgy, it's a pity this should be a really...

One of Christchurch's hidden gem of a walk, adequate car parking by the school in the park, walk towards the valley on the grass pitches towards the gate you can then choose the Eastenders Loop or the right hand Bartley Cave track, during the winter the right hand track can get muddy and the elevation gain is quite steep - good footwear is required here.the left hand path - Eastenders Loop is a proper trail and well looked after and perhaps easier for smaller kids. Once at the cave climb the wooden staircase for excellent views over Sumner and...
