The Lil Brew — Restaurant in Christchurch

I drove 40 min from Rolleston to come here after seeing it on Instagram and on different peoples TikToks and it did not disappoint. I had the açai bowl and the crookie and my dad had the ham toastie from the cabinet. I really liked the açai bowl, it had lots of different toppings. It was kind of sorbet like and I hadn’t had anything like it before so I was happy. The coconut bowls are also so cute and aesthetic. The crookie was nice too. Very sweet but I have a sweet tooth so I enjoyed it. I reccomend this place and especially recommend the açai bowl. I would have brought my dogs if it was a shorter drive but I reccomend bringing your dogs if you live near this place as they are dog friendly and even sell dog ice cream. Also liked the gift store. Highly overrated. We went for breakfast today with very high expectations and it's a very average coffee shop. We ordered a cookie (which was dry, I've tried them a thousand times better in other places) and a Biscoff crookie (which was more of the same, the Biscoff had the little piece of biscuit on top but the inside was anything but Biscoff, so you could tell it wasn't fresh, the biscuit had been there for hours and when heated it gave the impression of anything but fresh bakery). I think the look is much better than the taste, and that's why it has become famous. The hot chocolate, on the other hand, had a weird aftertaste and was anything but hot. We had a fantastic experience at this café. The cozy upstairs seating area and the unexpected small shops selling kitchenware and charming decorations made it even more enjoyable. The coffee was excellent, and the date cinnamon scone was one of the best we’ve had in a long time—soft, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and overall experience make this a place we’ll be visiting regularly.

Addit (Aug 2025): The monstera upstairs needs its roots inspected. It may need to be grown in water, as root rot could be causing...
