My dreams of time travel have finally come true. I have been there several times over the years and it never disappoints. An (almost) truly historically accurate little village that depicts the life of early Cantabrians. The only off-putting thing are the modern vehicles scattered around inside the park which diminish the feeling of stepping back in time, but it's not a big deal.

The night market is something I highly recommended attending with a wonderful selection of food stalls and assorted oddities, but bring a torch if you go there after dark during the winter months.

After the loss of historic buildings following the Christchurch earthquakes and the greedy property developers destroying everything they can, this place is a breath of fresh air to get away from the ugly monotonous...

Today we visited Ferrymead Heritage Park. As someone new to ChCh it was my first time to the park. We had a great time, especially with the Tram, where the driver and conductor were keen to talk to us about everything about the history of the trams. As well as showing us how everything worked and a thorough knowledge of the history of the tram.

Also Ross, one of the may helpers on site, went above and beyond when taking us around the model railway exhibit. The knowledge and attention to detail he showed were second to none. He made our day!! it was great to see the inner workings of the model railway exhibit!!

We loved all the exhibits but the dedication of the staff to prepare everything and also be able to answer all our questions was admirable.

In summary...loved it all...keep up the...

We went for the have a go day as it was cheaper entry and was good to go on the tram. Was a bit quiet, thought it would be busier with the lower price.. There is a lot of things to see but the kids did kind of get a bit bored. I liked the garden and picnic area the most. The printer shop was our highlight. The lady there was really friendly and our son got to make a little notebook and his name on cardboard. I feel like it needs a good jazzing up to make it a more memorable attraction for families. Was a bit annoying that we had to pay extra if we wanted to see the fire museum, I feel like that should be included in the entry. Still if you haven't been, I would recommend going to have a look at some of the...

Great fun family day out. Lovingly restored and maintained, lots of great old fashioned buildings, great way to immerse yourself in colonial NZ. But on top of this there are lots of mini museums, like - aviation hangar (DC3, Bristol Freighter & Vickers Viscount) - fire service museum - rail museum is also being built here (lots here already) **Try to go on one of the sundays when the train/steam tram is running We also loved the print shop, the guy in there was so passionate, kind and patient with kids and helped them print and emboss some lovely items! Finally there is the model trains, amazing work put into these, my kids (and i) stood in awe for ages watching them whizz round.
