Spencer Park, Picnic Area & Playground — Attraction in Christchurch

A high school group was camping there. We were advised that they were packing up to leave, we later worked out that they actually arrived 10mins before us. Had we known that they just arrived we would have gone camping elsewhere. They took over the camping ground, were up half the night and the teachers made zero effort to maintain them considering it was a public camping ground and there was other people around.

The facilities are run down and no door at the toilets which meant a lot of mosquitoes in the toilets at night. Also, many hoons driving down the road throughout the night. Definitely wouldn't go back...

Overall great family mountain biking spot

If you're here just for mountain biking, there is 10-15km of Decent set of cross country sand based forest single-track. Suitable for those new to mountain biking, low technical skill levels, and generally flat / minimal climbs and well maintained.

Great place to have a day out with family! The kids absolutely love the place as it has a huge field with playground on the side. The park has several BBQs to enjoy a nice family meal. There are plenty of car parks available. Drinking water supply is just beside the park. It also has a public restroom. There is wee place nearby if the kids want to look at some chickens and birds.
