Had a great time at the water park with some friends today. There's not heaps of info about the location and facilities so here's some details:
When you arrive at the water park there is a very large gravel car park which is a little way from the water park itself. This car park has a block of toilets in it. You have to park here and walk down a track to the entrance of the water park - you can't park at the water park itself as the road is used for access to the lake and there's not room for lots of cars.
Once you walk down the track to the entrance, you check in and get your grippy socks (which you must purchase to be able to go onto the park). It is recommended you purchase these when you book your session online as although you can buy socks at the check in, they only take cash as there is no WiFi, etc on site. They also have no computer so make sure you have your booking email with you on your mobile (or printed out if you're worried about running out of phone battery) as they have no way of checking your booking if you don't have the confirmation with you. There was a little queue to get in but it didn't take long for it to go down.
After getting into the park there are some portaloos but no changing facilities or lockers so bear that in mind if you have any valuables with you. There's lots of space along the stone beach to set up a spot for your bags or to sit and watch if you're not going onto the park yourself.
Our session was at 12pm-2pm so we got our life jackets and then waited for the safety briefing which was at 12:25. At 12:30 we were allowed onto the water toys to enjoy ourselves for the 90 minute session.
There's lots of staff around the water park to keep everyone safe and although there were lots of people booked onto our session, there was plenty of time for us to have a go on everything.
It is loads of fun but surprisingly tiring so you might want to bring some food and drink with you! They have some ice creams on site and when we visited there was also an ice cream van in the main car park.
All in all, a great day out, my only suggestion would be that the $6 grippy socks just be added to the booking price. It is fairly clear that you need to purchase these on the website but there were a few people who were frustrated to be caught out with no cash to buy them when we were...
Read moreThis has to be the best fun I've had in 2024! I'm a fairly fit 61 year old but am kid at heart. On Sunday I finally got a chance to go to the Kiwi Water Park.
First up I was fitted into a life jacket and given some new grippy socks to wear to help stop you slipping on the inflatables. After the safety briefing I went to the waters edge and started to wade in. The water was a bit chilly so I waded back out and up to the office to see if I could hire a wetsuit. Thank goodness one of the lovely staff members loaned me theirs. Take a wetsuit if you have one as not only do you stay warm, it helps with body slap on the water.
I was with a friend and her 2 boys. She'd been before and helped me around the course. I tried nearly every thing and loved the big slides but my favourite blow up was the hamster wheel, it was a barrel of laughs and left me with sore sides from laughing. Her boys were all over the place and there were lots of teenagers making the most of there time there. Everyone was happy and having a ball.
I tired after an hour or so and was happy get out and be on dry land. There was a container with a pop up tent to change into my dry clothes and warm back up.
Staff were super friendly and very helpful. It was hands down a great afternoon of exceptional fun. A day pass would be great as just watching is good too and if it's a hot Central day I'm sure I would be in and out all day. Highly recommended for groups, family and friends or even...
Read moreEdit to clear things up... You most definitely do not remember talking to me because I did not bring up any of these things to you or your staff. Nice to know the owner is willing to be this nasty to discredit a bad review though. Definitely not worth $40. Had heard good things so being a Queenstown local I decided to go and check it out. As previous reviews have said, the staff are very unenthusiastic but especially the owner was actually quite rude to us when we asked a simple question about the socks and then was quite rude to another customer about parking. The park itself is fun however despite there being a "limit" on the amount of people they book per session, there were far too many people in the park at one time which meant that most of your time in the park was spent waiting for your turn around the obstacle course. Some parts of the courses had so many people waiting on one platform that the platform was close to sinking! Just be aware as well that your two hour booking includes a five minute safety briefing, 25 minutes of waiting for the safety briefing and only 90 minutes of actual time in the park. They like to remind you that these things are very clear on the website but unless you are actually looking for these things then they are NOT clear on the website (something that the owner is quite rude about). Overall this is a great tourist trap but they are definitely not something that locals would recommend and want...
