I've been familiar with Misha's Vineyard wines since their earliest vintages, but I've not had a chance to try the wines for quite a while. So my partner and I were very happy to find the tasting room when passing through Cromwell on our journey around the South Island. Their tasting represents great value -- 10 premium wines to taste at less than the cost of a glass of plonk at a restaurant (and reimbursable off a purchase -- even of just one bottle).
I was delighted to see how the quality of the wines has improved even further from the wonderfully promising start that Misha's Vineyard made 10 years ago -- and how well both the pinot noirs and the aromatic whites are aging.
The set up of the tasting room may be the best in Central Otago -- certainly better than any we have experienced. Suzie, the tasting room manager, is welcoming, highly efficient, knowledgable, and very professional. Misha herself popped down from the office upstairs to have a chat, and we also met her husband Andy. It was great to hear some of the stories of the vineyard and the development of the brand, and also to get inside information about the Central Otago area as it relates to the viticulture of this fabulous wine region.
Misha's Vineyard has a terrific range of wines wines to taste, and if you are not familiar with them you will be bowled over not only by their award-winning pinot noirs but also by the exceptional rieslings, gewurtztraminers (including a delightful late harvest dessert wine) -- and even their sauvignon blanc which will have you thinking you are in the Loire Valley rather than New Zealand. Tastefully done food platters are available too if you want to taste along with some cheese or meats. You'll probably end up buying a few bottles for your continuing trip or even a case or two to ship home (overseas shipping available).
If you have even a passing interest in wine you'll walk out of this tasting experience knowing more than you did when you came in -- and certainly having learned a lot about the Central Otago region wine industry.
Highly recommended as a serious wine tasting experience in a delightful environment, and managed by people who are not only knowledgable but thoughtful and passionate about...

We have been driving around visiting vineyards in the last a few days and this is by far the most impressive for both the wine quality and tasting experience. If you are into wines then this place should definitely be on your radar for a visit.
Misha's is a family owned new plantation based on a historical gold mine location. The 26 acres of land provides a list of aromatic whites and centroal otago's signature pinot noirs. As a reasonably small player, this is listed as the top 20 wine producers of New Zealand - and if you taste, you will be able to tell.
the Tasting shop is now moved to across the road from the previously within the vineyards so it is now much easier to find. We are welcomed by friendly staff with great knowledge and compassion for the wine. Every tasting is a quality sip here. We also had a casual chat with the owner Misha and Andy. You can see even though the place is not that old but they certainly have their story to tell.
Given that Otago is quite crowded wine country, Misha's certainly stand out with their quality effort and their wine is very reasonably priced. This should be on your driving map and you will only be...

Otago - this name will forever etched in my heart because 1) it's the name of the university in Dunedin where I spent 2 of the best years in my life; and 2) it's the area in South Island famous for its wineries producing some of the best pinot noir
We proceed to Cromwell for lunch - a satisfying one at Stoaker Room - and there I spotted Misha's Vineyard Tasting Room nearby. On unrelated note, do try Stoaker Room as the food rocks! Similar to the wine tasting sessions in this region, a nominal fee is charged for the tasting but will be waived if we purchase a bottle in the end. The sales personnel who attended to us here was friendly and attentive - we had the opportunity to taste one the best seller, Pinot Rose, and bought one in the end. It went to our stomach on the same day when we...
