Waikato River Walk — Attraction in Hamilton

I strongly recommend not taking a bicycle down here. The surface is cobbles/paving, where there are various sections in desperate need of repair. I got my front wheel trapped in one of the worse areas and was very close to going head-over-heals; 47mm tyre width, so we're talking a generous gravel bike tyre here.

C'mon Hamilton Council, you've got the sublime Ngaruawahia to Te Rapa trail leading onto this nonsense. There is simply no excuse to having a dangerous pathway open to the public!

Also, I landed up having to exit the pathway due to a closure where the detour signage was...

Was a lovely day to go for a walk - went with my Son in law - Grand daughter and dog - We walked from Church Rd, Pukete to the walkway bridge over the Waikato River - it was a decent effort - My Son in law had to juggle a 4yr old on his shoulder while holding the lead of a big dog who was loving the outdoors - all was good we made it ther and back - I planted a painted rock from an 8yr old niece near the pathway to hopefully be found and responded to - as...

Most of the river walk is lovely. However, be prepared to be detoured up through the CBD right in Hamilton because for a number of years there has been a closure and most of us don't know why (especially because other more dodgy areas are apparently safe). I'd give close to 5 stars if they could fix it, because living close to the CBD, love our rate paying/tax dollars to fix this once and for all, whoever decides to take responsibility... Not holding...
