Great reserve for a beautiful evening walk. We started from Onetaunga road entrance, walked through the reserve. On the way back we took a diversion to Kendall bay. Overall, it was 5.2 kms return without covering the Chatswood reserve. You can see quite a lot old kauri trees. The reserve was not crowded at all and you get it quite to yourself. No toilet facilities within or in the vicinity. Great views throughout the walk with seats/benches placed at strategic viewpoints. You'll encounter birds such as tui, fantail etc.. Tracks are good though not much manmade and marked. It's kind of a clearing through the tree roots and hence can get slippery if wet. Though it's an easy walk, average fitness is required as there are a few cliff areas which will connect to the Chelsea Heritage park. If you've more time, you can combine this with the Chatswood reseve which will take an hour extra. Overall a pleasant experience and a must do in Auckland, especially if you love reserve walking.

Really nice walk. Nothing has been repaired yet from the floods so half the walk is nonexistent at the moment too and the rest of the walk is very damaged still. The views are amazing though if you can get past the mass amount of stairs. Thankfully there are benches provided from time to time to rest and enjoy the views while you "climb"

A lovely walkway in the bush and to the beach. We took the entrance at 95 Onetaunga Road, Chatswood to start. Another entrance is close to the intersection of Bragato Place and Onetaunga Road.

Well! We went to do the Kauri Point track walk to go to Soldiers Bay and spontaneously decided to do Centennial Park that goes to Kendalls Bay. We did the loop not knowing how steep the return walk up Swamp track was going to be. Very proud of myself for making it back without needing to call the Westpac chopper. Jokes aside this is a great, scenic but challenging bush walk for people who have at least an average to good level of fitness. Kendalls Bay beach is a great swim spot. Much nicer than...
