100% MUST VISIT!!! Truly Magical, Stunning, Amazing, and times Out of this world!! Pick the right time of day, and this reserve truly is magical! If your stopping here for any reason, you have to get out of the car and walk around.. there is soo much more to Keeley's Reserve than the boat ramp, ski ramp, and camping areas! The blue skies and sunshine of summer combine with Lake Karapiro to not only deliver stunning photo opportunities, but a place that can feel tranquil, peaceful, calming, and...yes.. truly MAGICAL! Plan your visit for a summers morning (believe me when I say sunrise is THE time) for the true, magical, and mystifying experience. The mist on the lake, with rowing teams practicing, and hearing their oars in the water and voices from the distance. But at that time of day the entire place seems to be acoustically modified .. hearing voices from afar as if they are right on shore with you.

I've re-written this review to this version, as over time my impression of Keely's Reserve keeps getting better... and better!

100% - MUST SEE!! check out the photos.. and when travelling the Waikato.. plan to go to...

Just a few kms down the road from the very popular Horahora domain and Moana Roa. Keeley reserve is similar to Moana. The banks are a lot steeper navigate. Sitting on the edge of Lake Karapiro. The views are fantastic if you are up and about by 7.30am you can often see the local rowing club out practicing. Which is pretty cool. There are toilets but quite a walk from the free camping area.for such a nice site it has been let down with a lot of rubbish often left in the bushes and in the toilets. The Toilets had not been serviced in a while. I left some supplies in the toilets. But then  somebody immediately took it all. Like Moana Roa some rubbish bins and service would...

Keeley Reserve, located near Lake Karapiro in the Waikato region, is a peaceful spot for self-contained campers. It offers beautiful lakeside views, a boat ramp, and public toilets, making it ideal for water activities like kayaking. The upper parking area provides the best scenic vantage points. However, the reserve is close to the highway, so traffic noise can be noticeable, and the ground may become muddy after rain. With a two-night stay limit, it’s a convenient and scenic stop for travelers looking to enjoy nature...

Great place to spend time on the water and not far from home. Nice grassed banks to set up for the day on. Toilet facilities, excellent ramp. One downfall is that not everybody knows the local boating rules in regard to direction and speeds. Can get a bit dangerous on busy days. Other than that it’s our summer happy place
