Stunning walk from Whakatane to Kohi Point and on around to Otarawairere. The walk starts out steepish, but then opens up to amazing views and a reasonably even ridgetop walk, then drops down into Otarawairere Bay. There's plenty of trees and cover, but still some exposed areas. From Otarawairere you have a couple of options of getting back to Whakatane - just note that high tide time and allow 2hrs each side of it, otherwise it's impassable. You can access Otarawairere Bay from Ohope, and it is worth the walk as it's a much nicer beach (shells, rather than sandy), and much less populated. Just note that there is a steepish section, so probably not for anyone unsteady on their feet.

Beautiful walk take your camera and plenty of water. Note two hours either side of high tide you may get wet feet. A two hour walk but plenty of places to stop and admire the beauty

Great views, looking at motohorua Island and whakaari Island puffing away and that breath of fresh air. Picinic table to have a meal with the weka.

Beautiful scenic walk. Picturesque view of the Whakatāne area. Quite a few people use this track as a way to get some exercise. Awesome days walk. Be sure to have a bottle of water handy, especially if its hot and of course a camera as you may be tempted to take a few selfies...

Worth going off the main road to look at the view of Whakatane and Ohope. Nicely maintained and information board of its history. Couldn't find a sign showing the walk way, but I believe the walk...
