I swear half these reviewers of this place probably haven’t even actually set foot here! I live next door. Have done for a while now. Yes, every now and then you get dickheads who dump appliances, furniture, seafood, sheep carcasses etc here. They are uninformed, unconscious and lack empathy for Papatuanuku and nature. But I am hopeful. Why? Because this park is magnificent. It has a carpark and wide open spaces to let the dog out or play ball games with the family. It has a modern playground for the kids. There are trees of varying sizes to climb. There is a big mound of rocks to climb on. There is also a gorgeous clear stream that runs right through it with swimming holes, koura, a friendly eel, ducks and pukeko. You can even find watercress for that boil-up and flax for raranga here too! The park is bordered by Sunset, Wrigley, and Meadowbank streets, while Ford road cuts through it. Sunset primary has an entrance point into this park. And you can take a shortcut through to Pandora road from here. Unfortunately over the last couple of years we have been beset with urban dirt bikers who use it as their exclusive dirt track. I hope they come to cherish this place for its natural beauty. The best time to visit this place is anytime tbh, but especially in late autumn/winter time, as the sun rises up behind the trees and its rays slice through the mist, with the morning chorus of birdsong…it’s...
