I'm shocked how few people go here. We were their first visitors, and we arrived at 1 p.m! Sure, the first seven ziplines are short, but they were amazing to practice on. It felt like you were completely independent of the guides.
The last three ziplines were awesome. Wizzing a quarter of a kilometer 50 metres about amazing scenery is exhilarating. The guides even pointed out cool locations on the way around.
I love the fact that you had to brake for yourself. It felt like you had full control over how fast you were travelling, and if you were going too fast at the end, there were big pads to stop you getting hurt.
In fact, you did everything yourself. Put on the harness, strap yoursel onto the ziplines with the carabiner and pulley, control your speed. Everything. Doing it like this made you feel fully safe, because you knew what was going on and how to do it safely.
The final zipline was by far the best. I think it was 380 metres, and you didn't have to slow down at all. It was pure terror. Spinning around among the amazing New Zealand hills going god knows how fast an hour hoping the guide will stop you was one of the most adrenaline blasting moments of it. I've forgotten the price (somewhere between $20 and $40), but it's totally worth it for one and a half hours of fun.
On our way out of Waitomo, we passed by one of the guide's houses (we knew because they had bought their dog to the start of the course, and that same one we saw at their house) and it looked like they were living on the edge of poverty. They lived in a trailer, barely the size of a small kitchen, and that was heartbreaking, because these nice people deserved much more in life than that.
My final point is how family friendly they were. Anyone could do ziplining there. It was easy to learn and they had harnesses for everyone. My 11 year old sister was too small to do any serious caving and blackwater rafting at Waitomo, and she was so sad about that. She was the most excited out of all of us to do it, but she was too small, so we had to do Blackwater rafting on the South Island to make her happy. I'm getting off topic, but anyone could do this, and that was the best bit.

Read moreOur team of 23 came here all the way from Melbourne and every single person said it was the highlight of our team building trip! Rob & Kelly are not only super fun and personable but they really have a passion for ziplining, adventure and preserving the culturally important landscape around them!
We split our group into 2 teams (due to our large size) and 1 team went to see the Glow Worms down the road whilst the other ziplined and then we swapped. This was Rob's great idea as he helped me plan our day months in advance. Rob is easy to communicate and book with which I really appreciated! They also ensured everything ran smoothly on the day when swapping over even when the weather was windy, rainy and a little chaotic. Everything was still safe and exciting!
Rob & Kelly have designed the course in a really interactive way that helped empower our team to feel in control as well as learn a new skill. A lot of our team faced fears that day and walked away feeling proud of themselves. I cannot overstate just how effective this course is for team building/bonding!
The location is stunning, the course is unique and the business has a lot of heart and soul behind it!
HIGHLY recommend for small or large groups and I want to thank Kelly and Rob for the memorable experience they...
Read moreHave been zipling before and really enjoyed it however this track was not worth the hour and a half travel to do the same. Marketed as 10 ziplines the first 7 are small and boring almost a training area in the trees which does not prepare you for the last 3 which are in the open and 4x the size. You need to break for yourself by running your hand along the line behind a pulley with couple cheap gloves they provide. Scenery was ok pretty average. No glowworms visible went on 4pm trip. Last 3 ziplines were ok but dampened by the fact you need to break for yourself break too hard and you will get stuck and have to pull yourself to the end or dont break enough and you will slam into the padding at the end of the track seen one kid faceplant he was really upset. Dont think it was very child friendly. Would not recomend. Would...
