Waipu Coastal Walkway is very interesting, with views to coastal islands, pancake rocks and coastal scenery. It starts at the end of Waipu beach. You'll get your feet wet crossing the stream. The headland is an old Pa site with views back along the beach. You need good shoes for the narrow track but it is in good condition for most of the way to Ding Bay. It gets much rougher at the far end, with fewer cut steps to negotiate the ups and downs. A bit of rock scrambling required as well towards the end but no drop-offs. Ding Bay is quite rocky so not great for swimming. You can continue to Langs Beach but we didn't do that bit. Overall s fun walk.

be aware that you have to cross a river to get to the walk and the size of it is changing! 😅 when we started we could easily use the stone that was placed in the middle to hop over it but when we came back 20-30min later it was already more than double the size due to the flood 🙃 we had no time to do the whole walk so we went the first 10min until the part on private property begins and back - the sun was really hot on that day and there a some parts with shadow but not super much - nevertheless we really liked the views on the ocean and the cliffs 😊

Very pretty short hike (< 3km each way) along beautiful trail with wonderful views. Presently (March 2023) states “closed due to slide” but it easy easy to walk across the now dried out section which many people have created “new” trail. Best to return same way as the road is narrow and busy (but shorter)

Beautiful walkway. I did this trail with my 10kg baby on my back. I walked along the road from the north end of Lang’s Beach to the Waterman Dr entranced and it took a leisurely 45 min to Waipu Beach, though I didn’t take any long rest stops. Well marked the entire way from Waterman Dr. The trail is not well marked at Lang’s Beach but I expect it would have been easy to find if I had been willing to scramble over the rocks a bit more (but was cautious with baby with me). The rest of the trail is fairly level, with one short ladder, one stile to climb, and one tree to scramble over. Runners suggested - not good for sandals/jandals. Would have been even more beautiful views going from Waipu to Lang’s. Good spots to stop for snack at Pancake rocks, or at beach area about 1/2 way (I think would be underwater...
