I have stayed many times in the past and as usual the camp is beautiful. However I had booked the newer accomodation with the intentions to spend the two days relaxing with my 3 children and to take a look at the accessible option for when there Dad comes out of hospital so we may holiday in your beautiful camp. We’ve spent a long 6 months in hospital and what was intended to be a nice stay near the beach left me distraught an stressed. The camp isn’t at all suitable for a very young family or a family who would like to relax without the means of the beach and venturing out.

I had to lock our family in our cabin so my children wouldn’t go down the ramp an possibly be hurt by traffic which left us in a hotbox even with all windows open an fan on. There was no option of Netflix as the TV suggested which was a big let down. I had made the mistake of assuming there would be a working smart tv and heat pump for A/C in these newer cabins. I made sure to come to the office an let reception know in advance that I apologise for any inconvenience of noise as my children were very unsettled with the heat an the absence of ways to entertain themselves when in our cabin. To reduce noise an interruption to other campers I closed all our windows which in honestly made it worse. I was thankful to the receptionist who offered a DVD player an some movies however when I called to see if there was other appropriate movies for toddlers I felt she was reluctant an I was under the impression with her tone I was being bothersome, there was no other movies then what she had left. It was after 1 am I had decided to clean our room an pack our things to depart once the children were fed and ready for our drive back to Auckland. I’m very upset we had to leave earlier then I wanted an it was more stress...

Kiaora in Maori means welcome. We didn't feel welcome all.We senior citizens 4 of us aged between 60 & 75 were treated badly👎👎1st you put us in a 1 bedroom cabin with a double bed, a single bed, and a fold out couch bed. The cabin was ok for 2 nites, we had one more nite to go, 2nd👎👎you put us in smaller cabin ( like a match box) no stove, no toilet, no shower, no table & chairs, no TV,😭😭😭We pensioners had to walk thru the nite to the toilets👎👎.Now this is what I don't get,, we had to give up our 1st cabin, with toilet &shower, stove, tv, 4 one person,???.younger then us???.We tried to explain to SOPHIA at reception, but all she could say was UNFORTUNATELY, repeatedly. We asked her if we could stay in our 1st cabin for one more nite, and put the other person in the small cabin for that one nite, as we were leaving at 5am the next morning but not SOPHIA,she put the one person in our first cabin, with everything in it an put us Maori pensioners in the smaller cabin( match box) 👎👎👎👎.with nothing in it👎👎👎. Now do you think we had a good holiday??? .They ruined our holiday, they say NGA MIHI NUI on sign outside, you don't know the meaning of the words. You SOPHIA at reception, we found you to be RUDE, RACIST, DISRESPECTFUL, if you think that you have heard the last of me, dream on, I intend to lay a formal complaint against your camp, with CONSUMER COMPLAINTS & hopefully get your camp license revoked, you people are not worthy or fit...

We have been ardent supporters of another campground further down the coast for a few years, but because of its big increase in prices, we thought we’d give Camp Waipu a go. We have stayed in a cabin before there, which was great. We booked a powered tent site for 5 days the week before Xmas and then another 5 days mid January. What an amazing experience we have had both times. We couldn’t have been any closer to the beach, than actually being on it. The facilities are excellent and always so well maintained and kept so clean. The powered sites that we’ve had so far, have been a really good size- enough for a big tent, a shelter and a trailer. Free hot showers and free wi-fi are 2 rare features that Camp Waipu has. They even give more, when your 10g runs out. To top of, the great location, spectacular amenities, the staff are so friendly and super helpful. We’re already looking forward to our next 5 days in mid Feb. Hope the weather and surf are as good as the last...

Generally a very nice campsite, alongside the beach, next to a good store and opposite a wonderful cafe/restaurant. You will have no need to drive anywhere with everything on your doorstep. The only downsides were we weren't very impressed that some cabins had beds already made, whereas others you pay specifically for bedding, only to be given it in laundry bags! (see photo) Also the "$1 for 5 minutes of hot water" showers are actually 1 minute of cold water, 1 minute of luke warm and finally 3 minutes of hot water. Other campsites manage however many minutes of constant hot water, so should they. If my review and photos were helpful to you, please give me a thumbs up 👍🏼 Thanks!

Been here a few times, 2 and a half hours out of Auckland, stayed in K1 and K2, cabins are clean (sleeps 5), shared facilities are clean, free use of BBQ area, everything is close 1 min walk to the beach, a good place to relax or swim/surf (or long walks on the beach lols), good for big families book multiple cabins, and couples who just want to get away, very affordable, dairy if you forget coffee or tea, they also do scooped ice cream, and fish and chips yoooo. Cafe Bar and Restaurant across the road, if you want to dine out. but book months in advance this place gets booked early, it is a fav hot spot for alot of people.
