It was my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. I planned a trip to go to all of her favourite wineries in Marlborough on a tight schedule in hopes of fulfilling a day i promised. We turned up 25 minutes before closing and got greeted by their staff telling us it will be closing in 25 minutes, and told us to leave.
The wife told him we travelled all the way from Queenstown and really wanted to do the tasting as it was recommended by her friends. He then reluctantly told us we might be able to do a short one and proceeded to run to the front gate to change the sign to "closed".
After he got back from changing the sign at 15:45, he handed us the tasting menu and told us to just choose two but he won't be explaining what the wines are. All four of us with a menu in our hands, confused with his offer, we decided to leave and moved on to our next destination, Framingham.
It was fortunate the excellent hospitality offered at Framingham overcame our disappointment with Fromm. They also offered us to visit the downstairs cellar and a mini tour way after the closing hours.

Read moreFromm was our best winery experience in New Zealand, full stop. If you are going to be in Marlborough, you NEED to book a tasting at Fromm. They are making serious wine in what I think is the proper way, working with, not against, the terroir of this very special part of the world. You are able to taste as many wines as you'd like from a large library. Each wine we tasted was well-made and had something interesting and unique to bring to the table, and several were truly exceptional. I also can't say enough good things about Stephen who poured for us during our visit, he is so knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaking process (which sadly has become rare in cellar doors) and is as warm and welcoming as can be. Great work to the team, a breath of fresh air, and we will steer anyone we know going to the...
Read moreEnjoyed our first visit to Fromm winery. Arrived late sunday afternoon for a tasting and was so well looked after by the friendly and knowledgable stephen. We did 1 mixed tasting and 1 signature tasting. Their wines are impressive I loved their rosé and pinot noir especially and also the 2022 Malbec is excellent. Just a few too many fruit flies in the tasting room which wasnt ideal. Impressive collection of cork screws on display which added a quirky and fun touch to the cellar door. The wines are affordable to buy as well. Highly recommend a...
