Gorgeous lake track between Arrowtown and Frankton. Great views from any spot on the lake and lots of photo op spots. The well-formed walking track is an easier grade, good for shorter day hikes and inexperienced hikers — or just to enjoy a run or walk the dog. It’ll take you through marshlands, bush, and up to some elevated viewing points over the lake. Especially fantastic on a windless day when the whole lake becomes a mirror.

Directly adjacent to State Highway 6 about two kilometres east of the Stalker Road roundabout with fantastic views, especially in autumn and around dusk and dawn, of the eponymous lake. There’s a cycle trail around the lake that is connected to the Queenstown Trails network to Frankton, the Kelvin Peninsula, Queenstown, Arrowtown and the Gibbston Valley. And of course, one a year there is the actual Queenstown A&P Show.

Having visited mirror lake and sadly not capturing what i needed, I was pleasantly surprised to discover "Lake Haynes". Only a short drive from queenstown this is must do on anyone interested in sightseeing or photography, its simply stunning! In my opinion it tops mirror lake on a perfect still day. The reflection and picturesque surrounding looks like something only seen on post cards.

On my first visit to Arrowtown and Queenstown, a local friend of mine got up early on my last morning there to go to the gym and asked if I wanted to join her. I was keen so we hopped in the car and we headed towards Frankton from Arrowtown. On the scenic drive into town, she pointed out this circuit and said we could do it next time I visited. Beautiful sunny morning, but snow still on the mountains - couldn't resist. Already dressed for a workout, I asked to be dropped off on the side of the road so I could do it there and then. She continued on to the gym and I walked/ran the circuit. Best decision ever! NZ at it's best - stunning scenery and views around the whole lake, other runners and cyclists on the track so I felt very safe. A very memorable run! Highly recommended if you have a few hours to spare! My friend was on her way back along the main road just as I'd completed the circuit so I caught a ride back. Perfect...
